The rain lashed at the windows as Alice sat quietly on a sofa wrapped snuggly under a throw. Undertaker had busied himself in her kitchen humming an eerie tune to himself as he mixed sugar into his beloved's tea. He had made a simple meal using what he had found in her pantry, salmon with a boiled potato salad and fresh green vegetables her had all prepared and served. The strange man was well aware that he was doing something wrong but the offer the viscount had made him was too good to turn down no matter how much he had wanted to.
In a way what he was doing was for her good yet he still did not see how she would benefit from it in anyway. There was also a lot about him she did not know and he wondered what her reaction would be if he ever did tell her about his different sides he hid from her. Walking slowly with a tray he found Alice sleeping on the couch and stared at her for a brief moment. 'She truly is beautiful, but would she manage a life time living in my world, would she ever handle the truth in the way I hope she would if I ever do tell her? I love this women yet that butler seems to have an interest in her too that goes beyond what I am comfortable with... she is aware of what I am but not what I am currently doing and I have a feeling Sebastian has been open with her from her arrival which puts me in a tight situation with her no matter which way I look at it.' He thought to himself as he walked into the lounge silently and placed the steaming plates of food and tea.
"Alice, my love, you need to eat and wash before sleep even thinks of claiming you my precious." He whispered stroking her cheek. Alice exhaled softly and snuggled into his side when a wicked grin crossed his pale lips, fingers darting in an agile fashion to her sides tickling her till she woke up in peals of laughter.
Heaving slightly Alice pouted and then smiled as she stretched and looked at the food. "Hmm that looks delicious, smells delicious too." She cooed softly as Undertaker handed her a plate.
"I know it's a bit unconventional to eat on a couch but I was thinking about the times you come from my dear." He chuckled.
Alice laughed as she took a bite of the salmon. "Hmmm, unconventional is how I like you best. In the times I come from this is a very normal sight actually, dining room tables are more reserved for those married with children or special occasions where you have lots of guests over for a meal, other than that the single and lonely eat like this." She chuckled eating some more.
Undertaker nodded as he started eating beside her. "So my dear if you got a chance to go back, would you go or would you stay?"
Alice looked up from her plate of food and smiled gently placing her fork down. "Well it would be rather tough to be honest. There I have work, but other than that I have nothing else besides my family and one or two friends who tolerated me enough to stick around. Here however if I left I would leave behind so much more. So in the end I guess I would feel inclined to stay after all."
Undertaker smirked, "Tell me dear what have you gained here that would make it worth staying?"
Alice twitched her nose slightly and pouted deep in thought. "Well firstly I always admired this era so giving up a once in a life time chance to live in it again would be pointless even if the people seem to think I am a witch. Secondly I have a massive mansion where as I was living in an up market apartment which had very little in it anyway, it was cold, lonely and well boring. Thirdly taverns here are pretty awesome because no one really gives a shit about what they wearing or who they are with, there isn't much that is superficial." She chuckled.
"Lastly I have a bunch of really strange and wonderful people I am surrounded by who don't really expect much from me, everything I could have asked for is kind of right here in front of me and around me." She smiled shoveling another fork full of food into her mouth.
Undertaker smiled as he ate then thought he would ask her another question. "So how do you feel about the unknown my dear?"
Alice shrugged swallowing her mouth full of food. "Well everyday no matter where you are you live in the unknown. You don't know what could happen at home, at work, or even when you're walking to the shop, I believe if shits gonna happen it's gonna happen whether you like it or not."
Undertaker laughed. "Ah you my dear almost led me to believe that you had forgotten you're peculiar way of speaking. It seems I missed that about you." He petted her hair affectionately. The two continued eating in silence when Undertaker looked up at her again. "Tell me what happened to all the staff you once had my dear?"
Alice swallowed hard and looked at her cup of tea. "It would seem the young master still looks out for me, he had Sebastian dispose of them as it turns out after the news that had spread around London in the higher social circles they had paid my staff to kill me, Sebastian was here, he had explained what he had done, but it eludes us why they would want me dead as I am not a threat to anyone in particular."
Undertaker stared at Alice, his mind running wild as he watched her. 'Why does my blood boil when she mentions that demons name, what does he think he is doing here in her home protecting here when I am the one meant to protect her? my dear Alice you don't even realize that you will have to choose a side sooner than you think, yet it would seem I have won your heart over, that demon till tries to press his luck with you, either way you'd become a princess of the night, so I hope you choose me.... Such a splendid reaper you would make.'
Alice waved her hand in front of Undertakers face watching him curiously as he stared at her, her cheeks slowly turning pink the longer she waited for a reply from the man. She didn't expect him to pull her closely to him and she didn't expect him to crush his lips down on hers as he did, but she couldn't deny him strange as he was. Undertaker kissed her until neither of them could breathe, slowly pulling away from her he stared at her intensely before nuzzling her neck.
"Alice my dearest, which side would you choose if given a choice? Demons or reapers?" he asked in a low voice smirking when he felt her freeze.
