The Darkness Within

Epilogue

Months passed, and Rapunzel was known as the Guardian of Creativity and Life. She was living life happily, with no sense of flaws or loss. She and the children had even mended the bonds that were broken. Now, they sat by the pond where this story all began, listening as Rapunzel sang the song that made her hair glow.

"Flower, gleam and glow.
Let the power shine.
Make the clock reverse;
Bring back what once was mine.
Heal what has been hurt.
Change the fate's design.
Save what has been lost.
Bring back what once was mine;
What once was mine"

"Wow..." The children said in awe.

"Your hair is really cool!" Jamie exclaimed. Leaning up against a tree right next to Rapunzel, Jack scoffed.

"Even cooler than my hair?" He asked teasingly.

"Yes!" The children said simultaneously. Laughing, the princess nodded.

"I think they may be right."

"Oh, of course you agree." He arched an eyebrow at her, smirking. Clearing her throat rather awkwardly, she stood from her log, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear.

"I think it's time you kids head home." Rapunzel said.

"Awwww."

"I think Punzie's right. We have somewhere to be."

"We do?"

"Sure. You know.. Us Guardians. Always saving the world."

"Well if it's that important, I guess we should probably get home." One of the other kids suggested. Scratching the back of his head, Jamie looked at Jack in a funny way, confused as to why he would agree with Rapunzel rather than have fun with the children. However, when Jack tilted his head at Rapunzel, signaling that he wanted to spend some time with her, Jamie smiled, understanding what he meant. As he ran off, the winter spirit turned to his princess.

"Ready to go?"

"Go where?"

"Great! Hang on tight!" Completely avoiding her question, he wrapped his arm around her waist, blasting off straight into the sky. Of course, he earned quite the scream from her, forcing her to cling very tightly to him.

"Jaaaaaaccccckkkkk!!!!"

The traveling was short since he was able to fly so quickly. And when the two had landed, they were on top of a large hill, overlooking Burgess.

"Jack, what are we doing up here?" Rapunzel asked.

"Just close your eyes. I have something for you." She arched an eyebrow at him, trying to sense if this were a practical joke or not. "Trust me." He smiled assuringly, sealing the deal for her. And so her delicate eyelids shut in the most gentle of ways. Placing his staff against the tree on the hill, Jack cupped his hands together, using his willpower to craft a necklace out of ice. Hearing the light sprinkles of the magic, Rapunzel became curious.

"Jack...?"

"Hold on, hold on." Once he had finished, he placed the delicate item around her neck. "Okay. You can open them now." Opening her eyes, the pupils of her piercing green emeralds grew wider as she gasped.

"Jack, it's beautiful. It looks just like the sun banner back in... Corona." She smiled, remembering all the wonderful times they had together there. "Oh, Jack, I love it." She hugged him, grinning uncontrollably.

"Oh, but that's not all." He pulled himself away from her, pulling a crown out of his pocket. "Ta-da!"

"You got my crown too?! How were you able to fit that in your pocket?"

"You have a small head." He chuckled, placing the jewel-encrusted crown on her head. "There. Now you really look like a princess."

"Not just any princess."

"Huh?" The blonde pulled the white-haired boy into a kiss, stunning him in the process. When she pulled away, she found that there was finally some color on his cheeks. "W-what do you m-mean?" He cleared his throat like it was going to help.

"I'm your princess." She said, resting her head on his shoulder. His eyes widened. Poor Jack Frost was speechless for once in his life. Unable to contain his grin, he nodded.

"As you wish, your highness." The two stared off into the distance as the sun started to set, concluding this perfect moment.

"As you wish..."
