Nolen
School was...school. The same boring hellhole I dreaded going to every morning.
I was able to tolerate it though since I only had two more days to wait until the Chance concert on Saturday, which was my date with Cory.
I don't know, but the kid was growing on me. Cory was funny, cute, an intellectual. I wasn't only attracted to him, but to his mind as well.
I grinned just thinking about him.
"What's got you all in outer space," Kira smirked, pinching my cheek.
I swatted at her hand, "Nothing."
"Oh it's something. Last time I saw you all googly eyed was over Colton, and I know you ain't with that asshole again," Kira said, plopping down onto the couch next to me.
I was quiet.
I still had a deep love for Colton, but there was also a hatred as well. It took me forever to get over him; I couldn't believe that someone I had loved so much could betray me the way that he did.
I wasted countless tears over him, even asked him what I did to deserve what he did to me.
I would have gotten back with him at one point if he asked. I'd even begged for us to get together again. That's how sprung that boy had had me.
Pathetic, I know.
But I knew there was no chance of us ever being together since he switched up, and I saw him with some girl on his arm fronting like he wasn't gay.
Nobody knew that we'd had a relationship since he'd kept it in the closet, a role that I didn't mind playing at the time. I was just glad someone would give me the attention that I craved. Attention that wasn't directed towards me with venomous words, malicious stares, and physical assaults.
After Colton though, I refused to allow myself to be mistreated, to have to pretend to be something in front of other people.
I deserved way more than that.
"And then Nolen found the guy of his dreams and they fucked happily ever after in a magical cottage," Kira teased.
I jumped, "Huh? What?"
"Pay attention," she said, sipping her tea.
"Who's the guy, Nolen," she asked, staring me down.
"His name's Cory," I cheesed giddily.
That grin was so wide, the Cheshire cat wouldn't have shit on me.
"And judging by that creepy smile, he's something special?"
"Well I think he is. He seems pretty legit. I like him. In fact, we have a date Saturday," I replied.
"That's good. Is he coming to pick you up," Kira asked.
"Yea."
Her face crinkled up a bit and her grin slid down at the corners of her mouth.
"What do you think daddy will say?"
I sighed.
My dad didn't know I was gay during the time Colton and I were together.
No one did.
Of course Colton would be at the house and in my room, but nobody suspected anything since we were both dudes.
That is until the day I was forced to come out of the closet when I got caught in a makeout session, on the couch with Colton...by my father.
