A Night To Remember

After 4 years of being trapped inside a magical book, my friends and I, Okami, were walking through town looking for someplace to eat. Emily and I decided to look for supplies while Nightfur and Emma looked after Jinshy who was apparently sick and we needed medicine to treat her.

It has been a month since I last saw Kotaro. He is the one person who knows the truth about us, where we come from and who we are, and best of all, he is my boyfriend, he and I only started dating 11 months ago, almost a year, in 13 hours it would be a year, he fought beside us, and he was helping us look for a way out.

Emily decided to look at some mushrooms and spices for her potions while I looked around for a blacksmith or shop to buy new arrows and to polish my sword.

On the way back to our meeting spot, I passed a cafe and decided to step inside and see if they had some smoothies, Kotaro is supposed to come back tonight, and I want to buy some snacks and drinks for when he came back. We could do a campfire and camp out like we do every time after a mission.

When I asked for the snacks and drinks, I sat down drinking my smoothie and to wait for my order to be ready, when suddenly I heard him. I got excited and started looking around, 'I found him!' I thought. But to my surprise he was with another girl, my heart shattered, I felt like running out of the cafe, but I didn't, I just went back to my table and drank my smoothie.

After 30 minutes my order was ready, I took it and went to find Emily.

"What's wrong Okami-chan? You look pale." She asked me looking worried.

"Bad smoothie, that's all" I lied, I didn't want her to know about what I saw.

"Your lying, what happened?" Now she looked deadly serious.

"Nothing really, Its just.....its nothing, I don't wanna talk about it." I said looking away from her.

I knew I hurt her, we didn't keep secrets. If anyone saw us, they would think we were sisters, except for the fur color and species. She's a blue hedgehog and I'm a white wolf with silver, and a hint of dark gray at the point of my tail and ears.

"Just know that I won't tell anyone" She told me walking toward the house's direction. She looked so upset.

"Trust me, I know" I told her looking up at her fleeting form, tears welling up at the corner of my eyes.

I saw my boyfriend with another girl, smiling, having fun and having lunch together; and I've hurt my best friend's feelings, 'What's wrong with me?!' I thought to myself as we reached the house outside of town.

It was 7 pm and Kotaro still hasn't come home. I was worried, sad, angry, and worst of all, jealous.

"Where are you?" I said looking up at the moon, with tears streaming down my face.

"Okami, are you okay?" Asked Emma and Jinshy.

I quickly wiped my tear stained face and gave them a small smile.

"I'm fine. I'll go grab more firewood, were running out"

I walked through the woods, picking up some wood for the campfire. I was so lost in thought that I didn't notice two people nearby until I heard his voice.

"Do you think she'll notice?" Asked Kotaro.

"Of course not dear, she won't know a thing, nobody will. This can be our little secret until you tell them" said a woman.

My curiosity got the best of me and I put down the wood and got closer when I got there I saw something I didn't expect.

He was hugging a girl, the remaining part of my heart shattered like a porcelain doll falling from a 100ft tall tower. This time, I ran so far and so fast, that I didn't notice where I was going, I tripped and fell down a small cliff, not big enough to kill me but enough to break my arm. I fell into a small river.
