Emily woke and groggily looked around the room. 'Where am I?' She wondered as she moved around the small room toward an even smaller bathroom. Facing herself in the mirror things began to make sense as she began to wake up.'Oh right, I'm at a hotel in the city.' She yawned and began brushing her teeth.' I'm here to meet my cousin and take her back to my house where she'll live with me for a while' She thought to straighten back up, nodding to her reflection 'Yes, that's it.'
Smiling she moved back into the room and began to search for her belongings. She hadn't packed very much, she would only stay here for the night, pick up her cousin and take a bus ride back home. She sighed as she picked her clothing for the day, her confidence gone.
The blue girl was excited when her cousin had asked if just maybe the girl could move in with her. It was an idea both of them had jokingly talked about over there letters to each other but now it really was happening, so she was nervous. She hadn't seen her cousin for years, heck she didn't know Okami was her cousin until her mother told her about the wolf girl a year ago. She had been shocked but excited. So after searching for the said cousin for about a month, she finally got an idea of where her cousin could be so she sent a letter and hoped for the best and a week later she got a reply.
For the next few months, the two girls got to know each other through their letters becoming pen pals. It was just about a month ago that Okami had asked her about moving in and after hearing (reading?) why Emily had agreed. It wasn't a problem for her either way, she had a very comfortable cabin in the city outskirts and her mother usually wasn't home due to work anyways.
As she adjusted her pink sweater she looked in the mirror. She looked at herself sporting a long pink sweater, black ripped leggings and her usual black and red boots, her hair in a ponytail.
'What's missing?' She thought.' Oh right! The scarf.' As she searched through her belongings someone knocked on her door.
"I'll be right there!" She exclaimed grabbing her scarf and turning to open the door. Opening the door, she found Nightfur standing there.
"Hey. Haven't seen you in a while. Ready to go?" He said smiling.
"Sure! Let me grab my stuff and check out of the hotel so we can go." She replied giving her friend a quick hug and moving into her room to grab her belongings. She was happy to see him. It had been a little while since she had seen him but today he would escort her to her and Okami's meeting point before he would leave.
Grabbing her backpack, she closed the door and nodded to him. Leaving behind the room, she felt her knees grow weak and butterflies in her stomach.

After walking a few minutes, the blue hedgehog and navy echidna walked into the café. Emily nervously adjusted the red scarf around her neck looking around the small area.
There where various small tables scattered around the quaint place. It was fairly new and right at the center of the city. Despite this, right now there weren't many people in the café probably cause it was cold outside.
"Stop it," said a deep voice beside her. "You're worrying yourself for nothing," Nightfur said, closing the door behind them.
"But Night, what if she doesn't like me?"
"Emily she's your cousin..."
"But I've never actually met her."
"Well, she'd be crazy not to like you," he reassured her.
She giggled. Slightly blushing as they moved towards a table centered in front of a window giving her a lovely view of the city.
"I wish you could stay, it would make it less awkward" She spoke up, sitting at the table giving her a view of the city and the door.
"You know I can't, besides she's your cousin, not mine. It'll be even more awkward." Nightfur replied.
"That's not true. You're my best friend, why would be more awkward?" She insisted.
"Look, just calm down ok? I have to go now or I'll be late" He said turning around. "Oh, and do me a favor and stop worrying about this, ok? I'll talk to you later." and with that, he walked towards the door, smiled at her and left.
Watching him leave she couldn't help but wonder if he was right. She let herself drown in her thoughts even when the waitress came over with her order.
'Is she gonna wear the scarf?' She thought. They had decided on both of them wearing a red scarf so they would know it was them. They had tried their best to describe the scarfs they would wear in their letters.
She sighed, despite how nervous she felt she was thankful they would be seeing each other at last.
After a few minutes, she spotted something red out of the corner of her eye making her finally snap out of her thoughts.
A white wolf was standing at the entrance of the café with a suitcase, she seemed oddly familiar. Then, the white wolf spotted her and began to walk towards her. The blue girl began to feel nervous and as she noticed the red scarf around said wolf's neck that feeling began to grow.
"Excuse me but... Are you Emily?" The white wolf, surely Okami, politely asked.
"O-oh... Yes. Are you Okami?" She stuttered out. Okami then happily jumped towards Emily and hugged her.
"It's you! Oh, I'm so happy to see you and I thought it was going to be difficult to find you." She exclaimed letting go of Emily and sitting across from her. After her initial shock, Emily smiled at Okami, her nervousness vanishing.
As they started talking about what had happened currently in their lives and what they could do they didn't realize that the sun had begun to set.
"Wow, we've been talking so long, that the sun started setting." Okami laughed. Emily looked out of the window and saw the sun rays casting an orange glow over the city 'What a pretty sunset' she thought and faced her cousin smiling.
"Well I guess we should get going or we're gonna miss the bus ride back home" Emily suggested grabbing her backpack.
"Yeah, let's go. We still have lots to talk about." Okami replied getting up from her seat.
As both girls walked out of the café, Emily realized that Nigthfur had been right. A smile found itself on her face as she lightly laughed. Walking beside her cousin she felt excited, she would have to call him later.
