(Ricky's pov)

I walked to my locker where all my friends were waiting. "Damn, you look terrible," Damian said. I rolled my eyes and leaned on my locker.

"What's wrong?" Calvin said.

"Eric hates me and I just feel like shit because of what you told me."

"It's not your fault," Calvin said. I shrugged and grabbed my books. I went to my class and pretty much slept the whole time. After sleeping through second, third, and fourth the lunch bell rang. I walked to the cafeteria and sat down with my friends, feeling depressed really sucks.

(Eric's pov)

I sat down with my friends at lunch and took a bite of my pizza. As I was eating I heard Ricky's friends talking. "Come on, man. Stop torturing yourself. You need to get over him." I looked at their table and saw Ricky with his head down. I suddenly felt guilty for making him stay away from me. I mean, he may have a crush on me but that doesn't mean we can't be friends, right? I sighed and got up to throw my trash away. As I passed Ricky's table he looked up and I saw a flash of hurt before he looked down again. I kept walking to the trash can and once I threw my stuff away I decided it was time to talk to him. There was an empty seat next to him so I pulled the chair out and sat down. All his friends looked at me in shock while Ricky just looked sad and confused.

"We need to talk," I said. He gulped and nodded. "First, why are you so upset over this? I barley know you."

"It's just, I've liked you since you came to this high school. Now that I know we can't even be friends, it hurts," he said. I sighed and felt guilty again.

I ran my hand through my hair and said, "I can't be friends with you."

"Why? Is it because I'm gay?"

"No, I can't tell you why we can't be friends. But I don't want you being upset over it so just know, it's not your fault," I said. He nodded and looked down at the table. Then he surprised me with what he said next.

"I'm not giving up, I don't care if it takes years! I'm not going to leave you alone until we're at least friends." I didn't know what to say so I just got up and walked over to my friends again.

(Ricky's pov)

My friends all smiled at me and I took a shaky breath. "Damn, I didn't know you had it in you to say that. You must really like him," Calvin said.

"You don't know how hard it was to say that," I said. They all nodded and I got up to go throw my stuff away. The bell rang and I walked to my next class, which I have with Eric. Eric was already there when I got there and I took my seat next to him.

He rolled his eyes and said, "Fuck off." As much as that hurt I'm not going to let that bother me.

"For a nerd, you sure do cuss a lot," I said. He didn't even look at me, he just kept his head facing the board.

The teacher came in and said, "Since you all were so good to the substitute I'll give you a free day." We all smiled and he sat down at his desk. I turned to Eric and saw he was listening to music. I tapped his shoulder and he looked annoyed as he too his ear buds out.

"Yes?" he said.

"What are you listening to?"

"Twenty one pilots."

I smiled and said, "They're cool."

"You listen to them?" I nodded. "They're my favorite band," he said.

"I have all their CDs. Maybe you should come over sometime," I said.

"Is this just some lame attempt to be friends with me?"
