(Ricky's pov)

Eric and I started to play video games until his mom called us down. We were playing Mario Cart and I smirked as I won again. "What the fuck? I'm usually amazing at this game! Why do you keep winning?!" he said. I laughed and shrugged.

"How about we make bet, whoever wins has to do whatever the other person says for five minutes. Maybe that will get you focused," I said.

"Fine, let's do it," he said. I smiled and we started to race again. I crossed the finish line on the third lap and I laughed when Eric glared at the TV.

"I believe I won," I said.

"Yeah, yeah I know. What do you want?" I smiled and blushed.

"How about a kiss?" I said. He smiled and leaned over to kiss me.

"You didn't have to win to ask that," Eric said after he pulled back.

"Well, I wanted an excuse," I laughed. Eric laughed and put his head on my shoulder.

"I'm tired," he said.

"Why don't you sleep until dinner's done?" I asked.

"Okay." Eric yawned and laid down on the floor with his head on my lap. I started to play with his hair and he fell asleep. He looked so calm in his sleep, like there was nothing in the world that could hurt him. Sadly, that's not true. But I will make sure I keep him safe, and no one will be able to hurt him. Someone knocked on the door and Connor opened it. He peeked in and he smiled when he saw Erics position on my lap.

"As much as I hate to wake him up, dinner is ready," he said. I nodded and gently shook Eric.

"Huh?" he mumbled.

"Dinner is ready," I said. He nodded and sat up. I got up and put out my hand. He took it and I helped him up. We walked down the steps and went into the dining room. Mrs. Grim smiled at us and set down two plates of meatloaf.

"So, Ricky, how old are you?" Mr. Grim asked.

"I'm seventeen."

"Huh, this is like a cliche love story. But instead of the nerd falling for the jock the jock fell for the nerd," Connor said.

I laughed and Eric rolled his eyes and said, "Why does everyone keep calling me a nerd?"

"Honey, you wear glasses, you love anime, reading, and you do well in school. Also, you nerd out when talking about certain subjects," Mrs. Grim said.

Eric blushed and I said, "I've never seen you get excited over anything. What do you nerd out to?"

"It only happened like three times," Eric mumbled and shrugged. "But I get excited over people talking about Twenty One Pilots, Supernatural, and cats."

Connor started laughing and said, "I remember when we found a kitten and you practically became best friends with the thing in two minutes."

I laughed and Eric said, "Yeah. . .I remember that."

"And you cried when we had to give it up," Connor said.

"Awe," I said and he nodded. I put my arm around his shoulders and he leaned into me.

"Well, I wanted to keep him. Stupid person shouldn't of let it get lost if she really wanted it," Eric said.

"As much as I agree with that, she was only eight, so it wasn't really her fault," Mrs. Grim said. We all finished eating and Eric and I went back upstairs to his room.

"Wanna watch a movie?" he asked.

"Sure, what's your favorite?" I asked.

He blushed and said, "Um. . I don't have one."
