The door opened in a heavy wave of cherry blossoms. It was one of Cinder's favorite scents, aside from coffee, and the scent of Kai's soap. Cherry blossoms with the slightest hint of vanilla, that almost lulled Cinder to sleep.

With bated breath, Kai watched as she pulled her shoes off, and walked inside, her feet falling warily and carefully on the soft carpet, padding like a cat across the giant room, peering out the windows that gazed upon the koi pond.

"Do.... Do you like it?" Kai whispered, his hands gripping each other, nervous for her response. She turned from the window, the sunlight casting glowy shadows across her face.

She leaped into his arms, and Kai's heart started to pound, as her arms wrapped around his neck and suddenly Kai wouldn't think, everything was filled with her hair, and her arms, and the subtle scent of metal on skin, and whatever fabric softener she used on her clothes.

"Oh my stars, Kai, I love you," she whispered, the slightest of laughs gasped under her voice.

Relief crashed on him all at once.

It had been so long, since the world was safe and sound. They needed no pocket to protect from problems, they didn't have to chip at stone to make a cave to save from a storm, and it was so strange, so so strange to have everything seem normal.

For everything to seem perfect.

So the sudden wave of happiness, seemed to mutate into sorrow, and for the first time, the two realized how tears of happiness might have been made, the fear from past so skeptical that it was all a dream, that it was bittersweet. It was a slow whirlwind of realization that plunged them into a whole new world.

And that bittersweet sadness, with happiness combined, must have been what they called bliss.

"Rise and shine sweetheart! It's time to make another beautiful day!"

Kinney groaned, only to discover a very blond, very hyper-active, very awake-

Thorne.

Oh goody

"Look at how lucky you are to see a face like this in the morning," he smiled, and dragged Kinney out of bed, failing in attempt from the sheer weight of his body. "Stars! For a soldier you're heavy."

"It's muscle weight, Cadet," he mumbled as he rubbed sleep out of his eyes, and blearily blinked at him. "Why the hell are you on the moon?" he sleepily demanded, and waved lazy hands over his face, "I need my beauty sleep," he murmured, falling back onto the bed.

"Nope nope, early risers have good skin, less eye bags," Thorne remarked, and patted Kinney's cheek almost affectionately, if not mockingly. "Now now, let's be efficient!" clapping his hands, he turned on the lights and pushed aside the curtains, and Kinney flinched away, crawling under the blankets, only to have them whipped off by a grinning Cress.

"Hello, good morning, I'm sorry, there's no winning here," she tittered, and tossed him a shirt and some pants. "Hurry and change, breakfast is awaiting!" she scampered away, leaving Kinney, eyes squinted against the sudden light, with Thorne.

There was only one very awkward thing about it.

Kinney slept nearly naked.
