Gajeel

I knew the second she left, I couldn't feel her body heat next to me anymore. Somehow during the night, she had made her way closer to me. It was chilly out here so I'm guessing she just needed more warmth. The thing is though, I enjoyed her proximity way too much.

I woke up just in time to see a figure dart through the trees, and with my advanced dragon sight I saw a flash of blue and orange and knew it had to be her. Quickly I got up to trail her, when she suddenly stopped a bit into the woods I quickly ducked and found a cluster of trees to keep an eye on her, suddenly without warning she doubled over. She coughed into her hand, it wasn't a light cough but one that shook her whole body. As the fit slowed she fell to her knees. She couldn't even stand up.

Something is seriously wrong, shit. As my thoughts searched for some explanation my thoughts going a million miles an hour, I hear my Shrimp dry heave then throw up. I CANT STAND IT!! I CANT WATCH HER DEAL WITH THIS  ALONE!!

Before I know what's happening I'm running over to her. Without any conscious thought, I hold her hair back while slowly rubbing circles into her back with my thumb.

When she's done finally calming down enough she collapses, her poor body can't take all that stress. It's almost as if she's in a trance. I call out her name but she doesn't respond. She's going through cold sweats. I hold her close and make my way back to camp.

By the time we return she is shivering. I do the only thing I can think of to help warm her. Maybe she just needs to sweat whatever is going on with her out. Yeah. That gotta be it. I think of myself hopefully. But my gut is telling me otherwise.

I combine our sleeping packs lay hers on the ground. I carefully lay her down on it and restart the fire. When that's done I quickly lay down next to her, pulling her back up against my chest then cover both of us with my sleeping sack.

I feel her tremors subside and her breathing start to even as I gently stroke her arm, pulling her even closer. I stay up the rest of the night keeping watch over her. We are headed back to Fairy Tail tomorrow. Even if this is a 12-hour bug.

As the sun starts to rise over the horizon all I can think is you better not leave me Shrimp. Ever.
