#4
There were so many voices around me, it was annoying. How many people could talk at once? I frowned in frustration and turned to my left... or maybe right? Who cares? A gentle squeeze on my hand made me jump in surprise.
"Good Morning." A beautiful voice whispered.
Nathan, of course. Who else could have that kind of angelic voice?
"Good Morning." I said, a little louder. To my confusion and embarassment, all the voices in the room hushed and I could literally feel the tension. I could feel the piercing stares from the people in the room. Oh, how I wish I could run away. I couldn't even deliver a tiny little speech in school, imagine how this must feel.
"Umm.." I began to speak, hoping to break the silence but I was hushed right away.
"Oh, honey. You must take rest." A chirpy voice half-ordered, half-requested me.
"Take her to the restroom, Isobel." An older voice said.
"Yes, sir." Isobel, the onwer of the chirpy-voice answered.
My heart felt heavy the moment Nathan's hand was taken away and replaced with softer ones.
"Here, let me help you." Isobel said. At least I think it was Isobel.
I nodded not knowing what else to do. God knows how badly I had to pee. I couldn't refuse the help right now.
After a very hard hour or so of me answering my nature's call and taking a long shower, I was out of the restroom again. Isobel had helped me changed into a skirt and blouse Ron had apparently left for me. Thank Heavens, I was out of the horrible hospital wear. Isobel helped me sit on the sofa near window which supposedly had a wonderful view of the beach. Of course, Isobel told me about that. Oh, I hated beaches by the way. I know, I know, that's unbelievable and pathetic but I had a history with it. You can't blame me.
I heard the door close a few minutes after I was seated. The awkward yet creepy silence in the room reminded me of Nathan. Where was he anyway?
"Here's your coffee."
I jumped in shock, putting my hand in my mouth to stop myself from screaming.
Nathan began laughing hysterically. Embarassed, I slowly put forward my other arm. I began to feel around hoping Nathan would hand me the coffee. But he didn't. The annoying jerk was back.
"It's here." He said, from somewhere to my left. I turned towards the voice and began feeling around again. I could hear a movement and his breath was so close I immedately caught hold of his arm and gripped it.
I grinned in victory. "Caught ya."
"Good job, my lady." He said, handing me the hot cup of coffee before shuffling my hair like I was a baby.
"You look good now. You were a mess earlier." He confessed. I guessed he was sitting on another sofa facing me.
I smiled. I was in a better mood. I never knew a shower could make so much difference in a person's mood.
"Did Ron call?"
"Yes."
"And?"
"He said your uncle and aunt can't make it on time here. There was a situation and they'd be few days late."
"Perfect."
"You don't like them huh?"
"Not in particular. I'm not fond of anybody."
"You say it like it's a good thing."
"It is, don't you think?"I asked, sarcastically. "Oh, right, you don't. You have everything you want. Your parents, money, health. I'm the pathetic one here."
"You're being dramatic, you know?" he said, coolly.
"Oh try living my life. You'll be too."
"Okay, correction. Over dramatic."
I rolled my eyes, annoyed. I decided to keep quiet and enjoy my coffee. We remained silent for a long time before he broke the silence again.
"I gotta go run some errands now. Liza will be here in a few minutes. So stay safe. I've ordered breakfast, just ask Liza to feed you."
"Ok."
"Take care, girl."
The door was closed almost immediately and I was alone again. A confession, I hated being alone. I had this weird circle of thoughts in my head whenever I was alone, and it sucked. The thoughts were always either disturbing or depressing.
Thankfully, Liza arrived in a short while. She had brought her iPod updated with the latest songs of my type. After feeding me with toast and egg, she and I began listening to the songs and chatted. She told me all the latest happenings in school and how much school sucked without me. Oh trust me not another student in my school must have realized I was gone. Liza was just being a good friend flattering me.
"Oh, and by the way, did Ron abandon you?!" she asked, in a sarcastic voice.
"No. He's just gone for an important matter. Will be back soon." I answered, trying to be positive about that. What if he comes with the good news that I will be able to see again?
"I met your doctor just now. He informed me you are being discharged today. Where are you gonna go? You can come stay with me, you know. But my parents..."
Her parents. The poor girl had problems for a lifetime in the form of her parents. I don't mean to disrespect them but with all honesty, I hated them. They were pretty rich and annoyingly arrogant about it. If words could kill, they'd be hanged more than the number -of -countries -in -this –world times. They bossed her around, never let her go out with anybody because nobody deserved her. They even insulted our seventh grade Math teacher because she didn't pay enough attention to her in class. Seriously? Who does that?! Apparently, they do.
So you get the picture.
"No offence, but I'd rather stay here. You are invited here too. I wish you'd just run away from your place sooner than later."
Liza laughed. "I wish."
"Oh, I wanted to ask you. Did you see a boy leave my room before you entered here?"
"Yes. Who is he?!" she shrieked suddenly, throwing her hands at me. "He was SO HOT!"
I blushed. Yes, I blushed. Why? I had no idea. Damn, I felt so stupid.
Liza giggled and pinched my cheeks lovably. "Oh my baby has a crush!"
I pushed her hands away and frowned. Well, I tried frowning, but it came out more like an embarrassed smile, I guess.
Liza went all gagagaga for a while before she started bombarding me with questions again, questions that were still revolving in my head hours after she left. I really did not a thing about him.
What was his full name? What he did, how he looked, where he was all these years? Nothing, absolutely nothing. I knew absolutely nothing about him and yet I slept with him last night. Well, not technically, but I did sleep with his arm locked with mine. Sure I knew his dad and mom, but as far as I knew, their son had run away almost ten years ago and they never heard from him again. So why did he come back suddenly? Our families were very close. Dad went to school with Nathan's dad and they'd been best friends since.
Nathan... where was he anyway? And did he really look hot? There I was, backing to grinning and blushing. I did wish I could seen him though. I already pictured him as Chad Michael Murray, he better not ruin that image. It'd been quiet a long time since Liza left and the doctor had come for his rounds, yet Nathan did not return. I had so many questions to ask him and he was gone.
