Let's not die today okay?

I wake to Ardeth messing with my hair whispering in my ear, "My love you have to wake up, we need not for you to kill us for leaving you behind." He kisses my neck and I slowly open my eyes and kiss his lips, looking around I see the rest packing their things. "Thank you." I mumble before following their lead. Soon we start to trek the mountain once more, the steep incline causing a constant burning in my legs.

It is about mid-day before we hear Rick shout "There it is! We found it!" Forgetting the heaviness of my legs I push myself quickly around the corner to see the majesty of  the long forgotten gateway still intact. "The gateway of Shangri-La" Evie speaks from beside me as I stare in awe at the building before me. Looking round at my companions, my family I realize that we all have a relieved and awestruck look on our faces.  Jonathan reluctantly releases his friend the yak whilst I strive forward on to the bridge, placing one foot on it it swings. So I cautiously take it one step at a time until I get to the other side Rick, Alex and Ardeth start unloading their guns from their trunks as I wire up the dynamite. Once done I return to see them discussing what's the best rifle, I laugh at them and grab a few of my own guns, knives and my sword. Jonathan interrupts their conversation by asking, "Boys! If I may... Do we have a plan for the emperor?"  "Yeah. We're gonna hit him high, hard and fast and smash him like a Ming vase." Rick replies without hesitation and in a cocky voice. "And if that doesn't work?" "We go to Plan B."

Ardeth interrupts their dialogue, "Now no offence Rick but you better have a hell of a good plan b. After all this isn't Imhotep again, he's got fire, water, earth, wind and control of metals. So if plan b goes wrong we might as well not have not even had a plan b." Looking over at him I agree and disagree, "if this goes wrong love. We mightn't need to worry cause we'll be dead." I give him a kiss on the cheek then he goes in for a kiss on the lips I pull back. "You can get that once we survive. And by the way boys you're our first line of defense so don't screw up! Let's not die today okay?" I tell them before making my way inside to find Evie and Lin. "We're going to be screwed if this doesn't work and knowing our luck it won't."

Okay so these were kind of filler chapters to give you insight into Skylar and her earlier life and what goes on in her head and also to create a kind of lull before the next chapter or two that will be filled with lots of action, explosions and death as you very well know if you've seen this movie before.
