Here comes the dead

The emperor landed on his own statue and bared down at everyone below him; like always I had chosen the wrong place to be as the Chinese army lined up in front of me (more like in front of the statue that I stood behind) to face him like he were a god. I quickly duck behind some rubble, conscious of the emperor in front of me. He transform back into a human and yells to awaken his army. 

The ground quakes and rumbles as sections drop down to expose ramps, from which his terracotta army emerged. About 20 meters away was one of these ramps. The ground continued to shake as in synchronization not one foot out of time they marched, the swarms seem like they would never end. There had to be at least ten ramps in total spewing out armed soldiers that would try and possibly achieve killing me and my family. It prompted memories of the Anubis warriors Ardeth and the Medjai fought, although unlike the Anubis warriors these soldiers wouldn't turn to dust if you hit them.

'Think! Think!! What was the plan again? Oh yeah all of us would be decoys as Lin's mother tried to raise an army of the damned, the ones who died at the hands of the emperor and held up his very foundation of his wall.' I run a hand through my hair getting it out of my face before tying it up, the odds are already stacked against us no need for another thing to be against me in this fight. I had to run and duck into part of the emperor's statue as the army approached most of which coming from behind. A horse neighs from behind me and a horse runs out from the trench. 

I grab the walkie talkie from my belt and speak into it. "Uh Rick? Evie? Either of you seeing this?" My voice is shaky as is my hands. "UH YEAH! You'd have to be blind NOT to see this!!!!!" Rick's panicked and loud voice comes through, I wince slightly and check to ensure that no attention was brought to me. "Good to know, but next time try not yelling. Seeing as the emperor and his minions are only a couple hundred meters away from me or less!! Is Alex away to get Lin?" "Yes." Evie replies sounding worried. 'Good we could use all the help we can get.' I thought. A unified thump sounds as the soldiers stand to attention. "Today you awake to a world... in the grip of chaos and corruption." I press the button on the walkie talkie, so that Rick,Evie,Maddog,Jonathan and Alex could hear the emperor's words, well that is if they understood mandarin. "I will restore order. I will retake what is mine. I will crush any idea of freedom." I end the transmission for a moment before asking "Go time?" 

Alex's voice comes through echoing my words meaning Lin is with him, "Go time." I take purposeful strides to the bike and hop on before broadcasting to everyone. "I love you all. Fight well - we'll see each other when this is all over." I start the bike momentarily stopping the emperor's speech and race off around the statue and to the left firing at the human Chinese army.  Meanwhile the ground at the walls collapse under itself the army of the damn raise from it shouting their battle cries. They rush forward and soon I have a group surrounding me weapons at the ready I skid to an abrupt stop sliding off the bike. Quickly I get to my feet and dodge a sword that was aiming for my head. As I prepare for an other attack I am surprised by them ignoring me and charging for the enemy. I look around confused before getting up and charging too. 

When I get to the front of the line I rush over to Rick and Evie before sending a questioning gaze to the undead man beside them commanding the others. "He's uhh, General Ming?" Rick asks? uncertainly. "They're not killing us so that's good enough." The emperor's archers get into position to fire causing Rick to grab Evie's and my arms and shoving us on to the ground behind some rubble to narrowly miss the onslaught of arrows. One however hits Rick's sleeve and he complains. Evie turns to me and hits my arm. "Hey!" I say startled, "You could have warned us about the arrows!!" She shouts over the chaos. "Well sorry I didn't know you wanted a play by play of everything." Rick snickers slightly before clearing his throat at seeing the sullen look from his wife. "Now's not the time for sarcasm."  I feel slightly offended at that and argue, "Sarcasm is a defense mechanism, don't blame me!"

The two arms clash drawing our attention away from our petty argument, sparing a look at the lovebirds I rush off into the midst of our army, somewhat stupidly. As the lovebirds provide cover fire I rush to face the Chinese human army under the general and gun down a few off them. I soon loose track of where everyone is and put my full attention into fighting and staying alive.

Just as I was becoming overwhelmed by terracotta soldiers and surround they fell to the ground in a veil of gunshots. A shadow was cast above me covering my face momentarily from the harsh rays of the sun and beside me lay a parachute. I raise my gun in the origin of the parachute but I falter and do not pull the trigger. I cannot believe my eyes as I sprint and then jump into the mans arms stealing a kiss. "You sonovabitch. You scared the life out of me." I curse at him drowning out all background noise. He goes to reply but is cut short by me raising my gun and shooting a terracotta soldier behind him. "Explain later we have a war to win." I say still in shock before he releases me and we side by side start to create carnage to the other sides men.

The rumble of planes catches my attention for a second before it is soon replaced by a soldier trying to decapitate me. I turn to the next person to fight only to see it's one of the good guys, I slowly lower the gun and give an awkward wave, which he returns only to have his arms cut off. I wince and look away as if to say that wasn't my fault. I run up onto some rubble to gain and advantage and to take out the men that had guns. "Die you mummy bastards!" Jonathan yells through the walkie talkie only for Maddog to come through seconds later. "There is no call for bad language." This makes me snicker and sways my attention. Pain flares up through my lower leg as it is cut by a sword of one of the mummies.  And all of a sudden I am hit from my vantage point on to the ground by what I can only presume is the emperor, who then proceeds to hit one of the planes causing it to come down.

The emperor then enters the wall leaving behind the battle field, Evie comes through a few minutes later on the walkie talkie stating, "Rick and Alex are going after him, we just need to hold his army off from killing anymore of us." A hand appears in my line of vision, I grab it and pull myself up. "Just like old times huh?" I ask with a wonky smile. "Yeah only this time we're on the same battle field to take care of each other." Ardeth says before placing a lingering kiss on my lips. "I mean how else can I make sure you don't do anything stupid to get yourself killed?" I shake my head as we fight together watching each other's backs.
