Ainsley's shoulders slumped.
"What's up,  Miss Perky Princess?" Josh asked her, raising an eyebrow.
Ainsley glared at him. "Emily's gone, idiot. Maybe use your eyes for once."
"Hey. Guys. Let's try to be nice to each other," Sophie said.
"Well Mr. Gold is being horrible and insensitive," Ainsley growled.
"Oh, so we're calling each other by our aura colors now, Black?" Josh sneered.
"Shut up, Gold," Ainsley muttered.
The boy working the cash register stared uneasily.
Then the group heard lots of loud talking outside and hurried footsteps. Scatty looked out the shop's window and her eyes widened.
"Quick! Help the kids out!" Scatty said the boy. "They're after me, and they need to get out!"
The boy quickly ushered the kids out of the service door. The trio huddled outside. Scatty came out a moment later.
"Come. We're meeting Nicholas at the Eiffel Tower," she said.
Ainsley squealed. "OH MY GOSH IVE ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE IT!"

"What...what is that?" Emily whispered, pointing to the creature outside their cell.
"That's a sphinx. She draws on our auras," Perenelle explained.
"Ugh. Why can't we just get out I hate it here it's so gross I'm so done with auras I WANT OUT!" Emily said.
Perenelle laughed. "I feel the same way. But sometimes we need to work to get what we want."
"I thought magic was for making life easier," Emily said.
"Not easier, but better," Perenelle said.

"Nicholas," Scatty said, seeing Flamel through the crowd and walking towards him.
He smiled. "I believe I see our ally."
"Who...?" Ainsley asked.
Nicholas pointed to a man walking towards them. "Him. Saint-Germain."
"OH! He's immortal, too?" Ainsley asked.
Nicholas laughed. "You know him too?"
"Of course!" Ainsley shook her head.
"Nicholas!" Germain said, embracing the alchemist.
"Nice to see you again. Germain. And I'd love to introduce everyone but we need a distraction," Nicholas said quickly.
"On it," Germain said. He rolled up his sleeves, revealing his butterfly tattoos. The butterflies floated off of his skin and into the air. When they got up to the tower they exploded into bursts of color.
"This way," Germain said. He led the group through the crowd.
