(Rosalie's POV)

It was the first week of winter break, which meant that Christmas Eve was tomorrow. As of today, Ryder, had came and saw me about two weeks ago. Also, as of today, I hadn't talked to Kailiope in two weeks. That in itself was awful, considering her and I had talked every day for four years. And when I say everyday, I mean everyday. Even if it was just one text back and forth or a, "Hi" while passing in the hallways, we talked every single day.
I just still couldn't believe she had taken Ryder's side over mine. We always had each other backs, plus she was the one who tried to talk me out of dating Ryder in the first place. Now, after he had broken my heart, she wanted me to give him a second chance? To hell with that. Maybe my life was better without either of them. I mean sure Kailiope would have been over here everyday this break if things were still normal, but if she didn't have my best interest in mind, why would I want to stick around with her?
Maybe this was the start of our friendship being over. I guess people were right when they said high school friends don't last forever, I just thought Kailiope and I were different.
My phone buzzed diverting my attention. Part of me expected to see Kailiope's name pop up on the light screen and I'd be lying if I said my heart fell a little when it wasn't her. Instead it was the new girl in my English class that I had hung out with this past week at school. Her name was Holly. She was from Dallas, so not too far from us, but still the move made it so she had to switch schools. She was very pretty with soft orange hair and pretty green eyes. At first I though she was going to be shy or maybe even a little bit rude, but after we got paired up as partners to discuss what we had just read, I realized that wasn't the case at all.

"Hey! I was wondering if you were busy today?" Holly's text read.
"I'm actually not, what's up?" I responded.
"Well I just recently got my license and have been wanted to drive around so I was wondering if you wanted to accompany me and maybe go get some Whatabuger?"
"That sounds like a lot of fun! What time should I be ready?" I hadn't had much social interaction outside of school and I was always down for Whatabuger.
"Let's say around one?"
"Great! I'll be ready!"

I turned off my phone and threw it on the bed before going across the hall to jump into the shower.
While in the shower my mind drifted to the first time I took Kailiope to Whatabuger. Four and a half years ago she was the new girl in town. It seems weird that I become friends with the new people, but then again I've always been fascinated with new things. It helped she was from California and that really sparked my interest. But, our school had just started a new thing were every Friday you could leave campus for lunch. Whataburger was literally down the block, so second semester of my freshman year, she had transferred into my journalism class because she said she couldn't stand art anymore. According to her, she couldn't even draw a circle, but anyways she was sat in my group and she didn't talk.
She just quietly unpacked her backpack and when she sat her binder on the desk I saw that it was Niall Horan, aka the Irish hottie from the biggest boyband at the time. I guess I was staring a little too long because her cheeks blushed and she quickly flipped open the binder to expose a divider of Harry Styles, also from the same boy band. I watched her cheeks blaze even brighter as she flipped it over and pulled out a blank piece of paper. After she quickly put everything back in her backpack I leaned over and whispered to her, "My favorite is Zayn."
This had made her eyes go wide and then she exploded with conversation. She told me how she went to her first concert right before she moved and the story of how she got her tickets. It made me laughed how into her stories she got. Most people would've regretted getting her to open up because believe me she never shut up, but I can't really explain it, her and I just clicked and it was like her and I were destined to be friends. But anyways, that day happened to be Friday and we happened to have journalism right before lunch so I invited her to come with me.
She told me the only place that compared to their burgers were In-n-Outs. I agreed and well like they say, the rest is history.
