"Hi" I smiled to the girl behind the desk in the school's office. "Uhm... my name's Ivy Whitescar-"

"Ah, yes. The New Yorker, right?" She assumed. I nodded and was given my timetable and locker number. As well as the code to it.

"Thank you" I said before wandering off to my locker.

Okay just to be clear, my real name is Ivylyn Goldhawk. Ivy is just my nickname and "Whitescar" is my mom's maiden name.

You may have heard that the lady behind the office desk said that I'm from New York. That is partly false. I actually come the United Kingdom. My parents and I were visiting New York for the time being until I got shipped off here.

I arrived at my locker. I put in my code, failing for the third time. I cursed at myself out of fustration. "Here, let me help you with that" a tall and tan guy said standing beside me. He held out his hand, indicating to give the paper with my pass code printed on it.

I stared at his held out hand. Should I give it? What if he'll memorize my code? He would be able to open my locker any time he wanted.

As if reading my mind. "Don't worry. I won't back fire you by remebering your code" he laughs.

I smiled and gave him my code. He gracefully twisted the lock on the locker as if it was his own. Within his first try, it opened. "Just remember that it's all in the movement. Not too fast. But not too slow"

"Woah. Thanks" I said. "So, my guess is that your new here?" He asked as he leans his shoulder at the other lockers beside mine. "Yeah, moved away from New York" I answered while inspecting the inside of my locker. He seemed to notice and chuckled.

"Have you ever seen a locker before?" He asked sarcastically, half laughing. "In movies" I replied plainly. He raised an eyebrow while crossing his arms. "Home schooled" I added, lying.

"Ohh I see" he said, coming to realization. "Well, anyways. I need to get to class. Mine is in the other side of the building so I need to get going. And yours is just straight the hall. Just look at the room number. Simple" he said all together. I titled my head. Wondering how he knew my first class.

"Oh, the paper with your code. It has your timetable on it"

How can I be so stupid? "Oh yeah. Sorry. Forgot about that" I said feeling dumbfounded.

"It's alright. My name's Nathan by the way" he said walking backwards, heading to his class.

"Ivy"

"Nice meeting you Ivy. See you at break time" he said as I nodded.

Closing my locker, I headed down the hall to my first class as I was instructed by Nathan.

I was never home schooled like what I told to Nathan. I had to lie. Besides, how was I suppose to explain that I'm basically an undercover shadowhunter? Yet alone explain what a shadowhunter even is. Would he even believe me? Well the only thing he would believe in is that I'm completely crazy.

Anyways, undercover as a student. Pointless. I remember my argue with mother in New York.

"Investigating demonic energy in Forks, fine. Being undercover as a student while I'm there, so not fine" I almost shouted at my mom

"But you have to! It's that or you don't get to go there at all and go on your first legal solo mission" she argued back. "Legal". I know what she meant by that. This wouldn't be my first mission but the first one without getting into trouble since the Clave is aware of it. Unlike my other suicidal ones.

"Why is it necessary though? To go to high school, I mean"

"We can't risk an under aged shadowhunter to be suspected and questioned by civilians in Forks"

"How are you even sure they would notice my age given the fact that I have runes that look like tattoo inked on my skin?"

"Ivylyn, your father and I; even the Clave can not risk this doing. Besides, it will all be over once you've found answers from the high demonic energy in Washington"

Well the only way to get out of this hell hole is to get some answers and get it over with. How bad can it be?
