Chapter 3
"We're doing well. Thank you." The girl with long black hair said. The both of them then took their seats in front of Tomo.
"That's great to hear." Tomo simply said before some silence fell between them. Tomo's cheeks began to flush a light pink when she realized there was just dead air between them. She was suppose to be entertaining them.
"Are you okay?" The girl with short brown hair asked.
"Oh, uh, y-yes." Tomo said, trying to calm herself down. "I-I'm sorry. I'm just really nervous since I've never done this before."
"That's okay. If you want, we can ask some questions to start off?" The girl with long black hair smiled at Tomo.
"If you girls want." Tomo said to them. "My name is Nakanishi Tomo."
"Kyouya-kun gave us your name before gesturing us here." The girl with short brown hair explained.
"Oh, right." Tomo's cheeks flushed a light pink again.
"So Nakashini-san, is there any particular reason why you wanted to be a host?" The same girl asked Tomo.
"Uh, well, it's actually Nakanishi first of all..." She said faintly.
"Oh! I'm sorry!" The girl apologized.
"That's okay. Lots of people get my name wrong at first," Tomo explained, "And for your question well..."
She thought this over in her head. She couldn't possibly tell them that she was only being a host to repay back a broken painting. She didn't know how she was going to answer. Then she remembered a soap opera she had once seen. It had taken place in a host club and she remembered some of the host members of that soap opera. She looked at the girls.
"This may be a little embarrassing, but I want to try making pretty girls like you happy."
Tomo then smiled a very sweet and charming smile at the girls. In return, the girls' let out a soft gasp before their faces turned pink, charmed by Tomo's smile. Talking to the girls after that became easier for Tomo now that she had an idea of what she can do. Soon one of the girls asked a questioned about her hair.
"I'm sorry if this offends you, Nakanishi-san, but your hair." The girl with long black hair said to her.
"My hair?" Tomo touched her bangs a bit in question.
"Yes, do you bleach it? It's so white."
"Oh! No, no, I don't," Tomo said, waving one of her hands in her face before lifting her pointer finger upwards to further explain, "It's actually natural if you believe it or not."
"Oh wow!" The girl with short brunette hair said as she then covered her mouth in surprise.
"No way!" The other girl said.
Tomo sheepishly smiled as she explained, "Yes. You see, it sort of runs in my family, on my mom's side."
"Really?"
Tomo nodded. "It has something to do with the genetics. I'm actually a dirty blonde." Tomo explained before she tilted her head down a bit and spread her hair flat on the top of her head. "You can still see a bit of my original hair color at the roots."
"That's really interesting!" The girl with long black hair said with a big smile.
"Yes, can you tell us anything else about you?" The other girl asked.
"Ah, well, I don't know if this is interesting or not, but I do like to garden." Tomo answered.
"Garden? We never would of thought!" They both folded their hands together near their faces with twinkles in their eyes.

It was the end of the day and Tomo was packing her things up in the club room. Kyouya and Tamaki, her "class buddies" as Tamaki put it, had brought her back into the club room along with everyone else to discuss about the club tomorrow and the changing of the club schedules. After that was done, everyone was heading home.
"How as your first day of hosting?"
Tomo looked up from packing her things and saw that it was Haruhi.
"It was..." Tomo trailed off as she tried to think of a way to explain it, "Nice I guess. A little tiring but I actually had fun."
"Yeah, I guess it can be nice." Haruhi said with a smile as she rubbed the side of her neck. "And I definitely know it can be tiring."
Tomo and Haruhi then began to talk to each other again as they walked their way out of the school, having stopped in changing rooms first so that Tomo could changed into her normal clothes. Once they were at the gate, they realized that they were walking in the same direction. Tomo quickly unlocked her bike from the bike post and continued walking with Haruhi.
"So you broke something too and you're now in debt to them." Tomo said as Haruhi nodded in return.
"And to be honest, I still haven't gotten use to the club yet." Haruhi said with slumped shoulders. "The guys are just so crazy and it gets annoying."
The two girls continued to talk to each other until they reached Haruhi's house.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Haruhi-chan." Tomo waved to Haruhi as she climbed the stairs to her apartment house.
"Same to you, Tomo-chan." Haruhi waved to her as well before entering her apartment.
Tomo soon stopped waving when the door closed. She looked down the street to where her house would be and frowned. Her father would be home. She took a deep breath and headed to her house. It was a couple of blocks away from where Haruhi lived. It was a simple two-floored house with like houses around it. Tomo chained her bike to the step railings leading to the front door and headed inside. She went upstairs to be greeted by her cat, Nozomi, in her room. Tomo quickly dropped her school bag on her bed and shoved the bag of her uniform under her bed. She gave Nozomi one more pet on the head before heading down stairs to go shop before her dad called out to her.
"Tomo. Come here right now." He demanded.
She walked over to the living room to see the back of her dad's head and his hand holding the remote to the TV.
"Yes, Dad?" She said a flatly.
"There was no milk this morning. Why was that?" He asked with annoyance in his tone.
"There was little milk left so I gave it to Nozomi." Tomo explained. She saw him grip the remote tightly.
"You mean that worthless cat?"
"Yes."
There was a moment of silence before her dad spoke again.
"Where are you going?"
"Store. To buy some toothpaste and milk. Do you want anything?" She asked him.
"Just get what we need."
Tomo then left the house without saying anything and rode her bike to the store. As she rode her bike, she took in another deep breath. At least he didn't scream at her like last time. Tomo didn't like her dad much. He always drank and got angry easily. She didn't know what her mom had saw in him. Tomo then wondered when her mother was going to come back. Her mother had said that she would come back to get her before she left one night when Tomo was younger. The wind picked up, causing her bangs to fly about in her face. She pulled a few locks of her now short hair behind her ears before the wind died down. Tomo soon stopped at an intersection and looked up at the sky.
At least school went well for her.
