Chapter Eight

"He did not!"  Amanda squeals after I tell her and Chase every thing that happened today.

I just nod as my eyes glow brighter from embarrassment.  Its like she is high on the information that I just gave her.  Chase is just smiling and shaking his head.  I glair at him but that just makes him chuckle.  I tell her its not a big deal and she goes to retort but I cut her off with a stern look.  That was the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened in my life.  Maybe he isn't the kind of nice that I thought he was.

"Do you like him?"  She asks.  Chase looks up from his food asking me the same question with his eyes.

"Of course not!"  I definitely dont like him that way.  Its just, that would have been my first kiss.  Amanda and Chase both had their first kiss at age 14.  Yes it was with each other, but they wanted to get it out of the way.  That's what they told me but I know that they liked each other back then.

"You hesitated."  Chase says and I flick a lightning bolt at him.

"I cant think about stuff like that right now when I have stuff like this to deal with." I motion toward my missing limb.

They both nod but they are smiling like fools.  We finish dinner in silence although, every once in a while I would catch them talking about me and Henry, so I would flick a playful bolt at them.  This is the most fun I have had in a while.  I dont know what I would do without these too  They are my soft spot, without them I would be a rock.  Well I am a rock now, but a softer one.

Amanda and Chase start laughing their asses off and I smack them softly, "You know that didn't hurt for a soft rock like yourself."  Chase says and I lunge at both of them.  Amanda squeals and rolls out of the way but I take Chase down with me as I face plant on the floor.  I grab Amanda's foot when she tries to crawl away and pull her towards me so I can sit on both of them.

"Never underestimate a feline my friends." we all laugh but stop when there is a knock at the door.

I get up to answer it.  When I open the door I see a face I wasn't expecting to see till tomorrow.  I slam the door shut and look at my giggling mess of friends.  They can tell it is Henry so Chase stands up and opens the door, then slams it shut again.  Amanda gets up and opens the door.  She holds it open for a second and then slams it in his face.  Chase goes back over and opens it then looks to me seeing if he can come in.  I give him a little nod.

"Are you sure or do you want to keep slamming the door in my face."  I cant take it any more.  I burst out into a fit of laughter.

Chase and Amanda join me as Henry walks in.  I stop laughing when I see Henry smiling at me.  When my friends come back to the real world they make an excuse to leave, but I know they will be tuning in Via my thoughts.  Not all witches can read minds but Chase and I can.

My eyes glow brighter again as I replay the scene from earlier.  So embarrassing.  No, he will not do this to me, "Your face is red."  Its like he's gloating.

"No shit Henry."  I begin to clean up the remains of my interrupted dinner, "Your not as nice as I thought."  I say rather than keeping it in my head.

"I got my answer didn't I?"  I tell him he didn't and he looks confused.  Good.

"You know you are always in your disguised form. Ive been curious as to what you really are."  Im circling him now.  I have the power this time.  He tells me to answer his question first but I just glair at him.

"Because I would have guessed you were a bunny and that's why you hide it.  Come on Henry show me that fluffy tail."  Chase comes into my head, "What the hell are you doing?  He looks pissed off."  I shake him out of my head and block him out.  Now they dont know whats happening.

I put bunny ears behind his head with my fingers so that he can see what I am doing in the mirror.  He grabs my waist and wrist and pushes me to the wall.  He is so close I can feel his chest rising and falling.

"Deja vous."  That was it.  He is the most irritated I have ever seen him.  But he still needed one more push.  So I sharpen my nail and tickle the bottom of his nose.  It twitches so I lean closer and raise to my tip toes to whisper, "Bunny boy."

He pushes me back harder against me and keeps me on my tip toes then he kisses me hard.  He has one hand on my cheek and the other on the small of my back, pulling me closer as if it was possible.  I kiss him back running my fingers through his hair.

He pulls back but only so that his forehead is resting on mine, "What answer did I get Rose?"

"That I wouldn't mind if you kissed me, because I was disappointed when you didn't."  I couldn't lie.

He asks how that doesn't answer his question and I explain to him that wanting to kiss someone doesn't mean you like them.  How the kiss goes is the real answer.  The meaning of it, how deep it was.  A kiss can mean nothing or a kiss can mean everything.  You have to decide for yourself what you think it means.

"You are a fox after all.  Youll be able to interpret how it went on your own."  Its easy to tell he is a fox.  Foxes are quick and smart.  They look nice on the outside but they aren't afraid to get what they want.

He stays close to me, not allowing me to leave as he shifts forms in front of me.  He is a white fox.  His hair is the color his fur would be if spirits had fur.  He has white blond hair and a tail that matches with some black in it.  He has the ears of a fox too.  Usually spirits that are foxes aren't as muscular as Henry is.  To be honest Henry is the best looking fox I have ever seen.  He smiles like he can hear me.

     "That's because I can."  What?

He explains that when a spirit gains the trust of a witch the spirit will be able to read that witches mind when they touch.  So apparently I trust him.  I mean I have known him for years but we were never close.  Then I realize that neither of us has moved fro our close contact.  I duck my head and clear my throat.  Henry backs up.

"Why did you keep asking me if you knew?"

"I had to help you get to the answer you are looking for without flat out telling you.  Its fun watching you struggle."  I smirk and tilt my head up slightly.

Henry comes back towards me and leans down.  I brush the side of his mouth with my lips then whisper in his ear, "But I cant help you too much."  I pull back and smirk.

He tells me I'm cruel but he is smiling as he leaves.
