Chapter 1:
Gianna's POV
It has been two years since we last saw her, that was our third year of high school. Now, we are in our first year of college. On the 19th of November, for the past two years, we would visit her family and comfort them. Today was the 18th, and tomorrow, me and my best friend Tess, are going to visit the Brooks family. That's the family of our best friend, Hailey, who has been missing for two years.
"I can't believe it's been two years since we have seen her!" Tess said sadly.
"I know.. I miss her so much, and I'm starting to loose hope that we will ever see her again." I responded.
We were currently packing our bags to go visit Hailey's family. It is Sunday
and we will be missing a week of classes, with an excused absence. Everyone knows about the disappearance, because it was all over the news.
"I find it weird that she went missing the day Jake left the school, and never returned. Don't you?" I asked Tess.
"Yea, and earlier that day I remember she was excited to tell us something. Se said it was really important too."
We both thought back to the day, like it was yesterday.
"Hey guys!! I have great news to tell you! It's really important so don't forget to call me when you get home, okay?" Hailey said to me and Tess.
"Sure! And we should meet up at the park later too!" I exclaimed.
Tess agreed and we went our separate ways home. We had went to the library for an essay that was due, and were all extremely exhausted.
As I walked through the door of my house, I pulled my coat off and raced upstairs, dialing Hailey's number. It rang, and rang, and rang, before going to voicemail. I found it odd since she always had her phone basically in her hand. I decided to call the house, and I was informed by her mom that she hadn't come home yet.
I thought little of it, not knowing that the library would be the last place we would see her for two years..
I shuddered at the memory in my mind, feeling my eyes water.
Tess's POV
We finally finished packing, before getting ready for bed. We both laid down,
knowing we would get no rest for the week. I sighed and sat up. Grabbing my phone off the nightstand, I played U.N.I. by Ed Sheeran on full blast. It was Hailey's favorite song, and me and Gianna would listen to it every time we missed her and couldn't sleep. With the song, we set our phones up to play a slide show of pictures with us and Hailey. As I looked at my phone, a picture of the three of us came up, all making weird faces for my mom, who took the picture. I smiled at the memory, before drifting off to sleep.
The next morning we woke up at 6 am sharp. It was easy for us because we
knew how important it was to get to the city before 9. At 9am we would all sit in the living room and look at pictures of us with Hailey. As sad as it was for us, it helped her mom, so we did it.
We got to the Brooks house at 8:15 with breakfast. After eating with
Hailey's mom and dad, me and Gianna went upstairs to get her brother, Alex, and the picture books. After looking at pictures for an hour, we finally stopped. Although it brings back a lot of good memories, it is the saddest thing, knowing you are missing a part of you.
I turned on the television and sat on the couch. Looking up at the news, I
froze. On the screen was police and medics, pulling a fragile, broken girl into an ambulance. As the camera showed the girl's face, only one thought came into my mind, Hailey.
