She Inspects the room carefully before deciding that it's safe. She sees a variety of guns laid out on a rug and curiosity gets the best of her. She knows they won't work for her, but a girl can dream, can't she? So she picks up an M16 just to feel the power behind the machine. Her index finger travels to the trigger and pulls it.
A wave of disappointment comes crashing down on her when nothing happens "I don't know what I was expecting." she mumbles to herself as she sets the weapon down. "Well, now THIS is a surprise! What's a little lady like you doing in a place like this?" a bold voice calls from behind her. She instinctively draws her sword and points the tip at the stranger's throat.
"Woah now, missy. I'm not an enemy, just a man of business. The name's Drebin." he says as he dangles a white handkerchief in his left hand. She studies him carefully, taking in the dark skin, the blonde hair, the scar, the designer glasses, the suit, and the camouflage pants.
If his name is Drebin, then he's probably working for the Patriots. Although...he could be a rouge.
A monkey then appears from the inside of an APU and walks over to them. It offers her a can of Narc, which she accepts with a slightly confused look on her face.
"Are you with the Patriots?" she demands "No. I'm just a gun launderer, not a Patriot." he replies. "Hm. No speech restriction. My apologies." she says as she lowers her sword "No problem. This is a war zone after all. What's your name?" "...Storm." "Just Storm?" "Yes. Is your name just Drebin?" "heh. Quite a mouth on you, huh?"
~Flashback~
"This will teach you to think before opening your mouth again!" the drill sergeant shouts as he punches her across the face. She is only five years old and is receiving a beating for speaking out of turn. As the man's fist collides with her jaw, tears threaten to spill out. But she holds them in, knowing that it will only make her situation worse. "You gonna cry? Huh? Come on, cry!" she shakes her head violently, trying to recompose herself "Good. Are you gonna speak without being told?" she shakes her head again "YES OR NO!?" "N-no, sir!" she sputters. He kicks her in the stomach and while she's down she coughs out blood "You're cleaning that up, brat." the man growls. He gives her one last kick before spitting at her, turning off the lights, and leaving her on the floor of the cold, dark room, broken and bloody.
~Flashback End~
Storm cringes at the memory but quickly recovers "You said you're a gun launderer?" she says, changing the subject "That is correct." he confirms, taking a sip from a can of Narc. "Do you also carry blades?" "Blades? A young girl like yourself shouldn't be playing with knives." "...I'm also not supposed to talk to strangers." "That's a good point. But may I ask why you need them?" "...That's none of your concern."
"Alright, I get it. Well then, what did you have in mind?" "Throwing knives. Kunai." "hmm... Well, I don't know where he found 'em' but lucky for you, one of the soldiers just brought in two full sets of those." he tells her as he climbs into his APU.
He quickly emerges with a set of kunai in each hand. "Which set would you like?" he asks "Both." "heh, you know what? I like you, and since none of my other customers use throwing knives, you can have all of these for free." "What's the catch?" "Well, you seem like a smart young lady, so tell you what. I'll make the same deal with you that I just made with my last customer." "...What kind of deal?"
"Since you won't be needing them, you just give me all the guns and ammo that you find, and in return I'll supply you with whatever you need." "hmmm....Sounds reasonable. Alright, deal." "Great. Now, since you and I are going to be seeing a lot more of each other, I'm going to need to be able to track your location."
"How do you plan on doing that?" "I know there's gotta be a reason that you can't fire guns, and you'd probably prefer to keep it that way. So instead of pricking you with a needle, I'm going to give you this tracking device. Once you turn it on, I--and I alone--can see wherever you are in the world." "...Thanks. So your last customer. Was he by any chance an old man with a blue bandana, and an eyepatch?" "Actually, yes he was. Why, do you know him?" "...yeah..." "And who is he exactly?" "The famous Solid Snake." "That is correct. What about him?"
"You can track his whereabouts too, right?" "I can. Where are you going with this?" "I need to know where he is." "Why? Do you plan on attacking him?" "No. A friend of mine is with him." "I didn't see anyone with him." "That's the point." "hm. True. Well, I can't imagine why you would do anything to harm him, so come on inside. I'll show you where he is."
He waves her into the back of the APU and she follows, still ready to attack if necessary.
"Alright, this is where the magic happens. Right now, Snake isn't too far from here. He's about half a mile north, in an old hotel." she looks at the small monitor and nods before moving towards the door "You know, if you really don't want to get separated from them, I could just download his location onto your map. That is, if you've got one."
She hesitates a bit, but then decides that she's already trusted him with more important things. She turns to him and blinks a few times to reveal what her eyes really are. Drebin looks closely and whistles in disbelief "Man, they're starting off younger and younger each day. Cybernetic parts on a kid! It's just wrong! It's immoral!"
She rolls her eyes, slightly amused that he--a gun wanderers--is talking about morals "Right. As I was saying, I can download Snake's location onto your map. Here, just have a seat." he says as he unplugs a device from his computer. The machine looks a bit like a barcode scanner from a store, and it sort of works in the same way too.
"Open your eyes." he tells her, so she does, and he pushes a button and a red beam of light goes into her eyes until a beeping sound is heard. "Alright, good to go." she nods a silent 'thank you' "Alright, you watch your back out there, missy."
As she's walking towards the door she turns around at the sound of metal against metal, and sees Drebin sticking out of the hatch on top of the APU. "I. Have. You." he says as he motions to his eyes, clutches his fist to his chest, and then points to her.
"...Ok, then." she mumbles as she leaves.
