Introducing Cadenza

Chapter 3

As I sat outside in front of the house on the steps all I could think about was my dad, "why did you want me dead I didn't do anything to you... why did you kill Laurence... he was your son and my beloved brother how could you leave us both behind" I mumbled to myself until I felt someone come up behind me.

I jump to my feet to see who was trying to come up behind me. "Whoa relax it's just me" Vylad put his hands up playfully smiling at me. I sighed as I turned around to face outside "you okay" Vylad asked me, I looked at him and lied "yeah I'm perfectly fine" I give him a fake smile, Vylad continued to look at me "are you sure" he moves closer. I move away "yeah I'm sure" I don't want people getting to close to me anymore.

I turn to look at him, his eyes seemed so sad. "You still haven't introduced me to your family" I try to lighten the mood. "Really I thought I already introduced you" he gave me a smug face "no you haven't plus I'd love to meet the family that saved me from dying out there in the rain.

"Wait why were you lying in the rain anyway" I looked at him shocked "I thought you already knew" I say giving him my full attention. "No as soon as I left you at the park I was on my way to find Laurence's house to look after his younger sister but I arrived too late and your house was messed up. Blood was covering the ground I thought it was your blood but then I followed a trail and found a man with a gunshot wound on his right leg but before I could ask him what happened he bled to death".

Vylad stared at the ground puzzled "wait the man.... Died" my whole body just shut down.... It felt like my heart stopped. "Oi Cadenza you alright" Vylad grabbed my arm snapping me back to reality. "Yeah the guy died, why was he important to you?" "No he wasn't".

"Well anyways let me introduce you to my family", Vylad led me into the dining room. This here is my father D'Artagnan and yes like the three musketeers'" I could see were Vylad got his olive skin and hair colour from but there eyes were different. "This is my beautiful mother Aretha" and just as Vylad said she was indeed beautiful, long golden hair bright like the sun with green emerald eyes.

"I can see where Vylad gets his beautiful eyes from" I give Aretha a gentle smile, "oh darling she thinks I have beautiful eyes... so does that mean you love my son's eyes just as much as mine" Aretha gave me a cheeky smile.

"Mother" Vylad complained, just then I gave off a little giggle "HAH SHE ACTUALLY LAUGHED" Vylad was going crazy. "Vylad everyone can smile" Aretha laughed "yes mother I know but this is the first time I've seen Cadenza smile it's kind of... pretty" Vylad scratched the back of his neck smiling away in a faraway corner.

Wait did he just say my smile is.... Pretty "oh uh thanks" I give him a fake smile, "hah your fake smile is completely different compared to your real smile" he laughs again. "Well Vylad you still have to introduce Cadenza to our other member of the family we don't want to keep her waiting you know how she is" Aretha giggles "it was a pleasure meeting you" I smile "oh no the pleasure is ours".

Vyad leads me to the back of the house where they had another garden but bigger this time. "Wow this place is huge and... pretty" I looked around to see a white and beautiful fountain over flowing with clear clean water. The bushes and trees were trimmed into animals. We followed a path way made by a variety of different tiny stones put together.

The path way led us to this huge glass building which reflected the suns bright radiant light. Outside the building were two magnificent statues of the famous mythical Pegasus. The horse that had wings and soared threw the skies like a dolphin that dove and swam threw the seas.

As we entered the building, the room was filled with mini water falls lakes and rivers. There were lots of pots with lots of different plants resting in the sun light. "Ann where are you" Vylad called out. "Ann I brought Cadenza, she wants to meet you come on out" at that moment I felt someone behind me so I turned as fast as lightning.

"Wow this girl is very sharp" a tall girl stood behind me. "There you are Ann okay Cadenza this is my younger sister Ann... Ann Cadenza, Cadenza Ann" Vylad smiled putting both of his hands behind his head resting his head on his hands.

Ann looked very much like her mother Aretha, Ann had long golden hair, olive, and tall but had dark brown eyes like her father. "Nice to meet you Cadenza I'm Ann" Ann smiled at me; her smile is as if  she herself was the sun smiling at me. "Hi I'm Cadenza nice to meet you too".

Vylad lead me back out to the outside garden back to the house. "You've got quite a big house don't you think" "hmm" Vylad replied "I guess but my family is really small and they can be annoying, especially Ann". Just as he said that I could feel something deep down inside me, what is this feeling.... Sadness?

"Well at least you have a family" I mumbled to myself "did you say something?" Vylad turned to face me. "No it's nothing" I continue to follow him from behind.

"Well you've meet my family and have been introduced by yours truly" he giggled, "so its school tomorrow and it's my first day wanna show me around" he looked at me "oh no I can't all the other girls will fawn over you and ask you if they could...." I shake my head "anyways, trust me, when that happens I'm not gonna be around" I continue walking off into the house. Vylad frowns and chases after me.
