Chapter 1
I'm running. Running for my life, again for the 2nd time this week. She was catching up. I look around and see the bright blue public swimming pool, still glimmering though it's been 2 weeks into school now. I push through groups of teens, ignoring the cussing that follows me and make my way towards the pool.
"Damn it! I should've known!" The gates where locked. Time to climb the fence.
When I finally got to the other side, I made a dash for the big pool and jumped right in without hesitation, backpack, sweatshirt, jeans, shoes, everything, knowing that the water will heal my bruises and wounds from her fiery whips. Not a moment too soon. As soon as I was in the water, I could sense that her blazing whips touch the water where I was 5 seconds ago and they extinguished faster then you could say "Die".
Now I felt more powerful, being in the water, I took a deep breath and spoke to the water to listen to me.
I felt myself rise out of the water, standing on the surface and facing my new enemy.
"Hahahaha!! Surender to me know, Riley Jackson, and you won't have to live this life of your anymore!" She hissed at me, taking her time to get to me.
"In your dreams, bat lady." I murmered as I summoned my weapon, a bright blue trident, which was queit solid and light in reality but look watery and maybe even heavy? I don't know how others see it but it helped me kill many other monsters that tried to kill me in the past. I pointed the trident at her and as usual, a blast of water hit the witch.
"Ahk!" Was all that came from her when the wave hit her, throwing her 20 feet away from me, allowing me to take out my lipstick from my pocket. As I took off the cap from the lipstick, a 3 foot bronze sword sprouted from the tip.
"Squak!! Rrrillley Jacksson!!! You will regret this in the Underworld!! Sir Hades will give you the worst punishment he can think of so you can suffer all eternity!!" She yelled, making her way through the soggy umbrellas towards me, fast.
7 feet, 6 feet, 5 feet, 4 feet, and then she stopped.
"What, you scared?" I asked her with a smirk.
"What? Of course not! What makes you think that?"
"The fact that you stopped in 1 foot away from me. Duh!" Irolledmyeyesatherasifwewerejokingaroundandacrazygrinappearedonmy face. She seemed lost and confused, like I do now too, only that I know she's about to kill me now and the only way to save myself is by killing her first. Time to use the mind.
"There were 20 fish in a fish tank, 5 drowned, 3 got eaten by a shark and 7 got lost. How many are left?" I asked cautiously.
"What? Is this a joke? Your last words are a joke?"
"Please answer the question!" She made some weird sounds and it looked like she was thinking, but it's hard to tell when your face is tuck in a pout. Knowing that I've got her thinking, I take the opportunity to strike. I hit her right in the shoulder and she turned into golden dust, like all the other monsters I have killed.
I looked at the remains of the creature and the old lady whom I have fell for and trusted until this day when she turned into a rat with wings that was trying to kill me with her fiery whips. I knew that I shouldn't have trusted her or anyone else when the orphanage gave me away to them. They told me that all of the people that came to take in the kids were friendly people and that there was nothing to be afraid of. I trusted them and many other people, but they always tried to kill me in the end. I can't trust no one, not even the people I love, maybe my mom, Sally Jackson, but that's all. Here's a tip for you, reader: Trust No One.
