Chapter 5
"Who are you?" I asked, my voice was shaking. My legs felt like as if they would give out any minuet now. "Come out now, I'm not scared of you." I tried to convince my self, but I think my voice gave it away that I was scared.
"Jeez, Riley. You really must have hurt your head really hard on that rock, haven't you?" I saw Nico step out of the shadows. I collapsed onto the waters edge, causing some water to splash around me.
"What do you want, Nico." I asked annoyed. Or, at least I tried to sound annoyed. Really I was kind of glad to see him, not one of the other kids. I don't care that he caused me to be in this state right now.
"Uh, Chiron kind of dismissed dinner earlier to look for you. Just in case you didn't run into the woods." He said, looking down at his hands as he twisted the skull ring around his finger. "He said that we couldn't loose another demi-god this early, especially a child of the Big Three."
"What the hell are the "Big Three"!" I said, throwing my hands up in the air in frustration.
"Uh, I wouldn't say that out loud, especially since they can hear everything you say about them. To answer your question, they are the three main gods. Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. Your father is Poseidon, my father is Hades. So yea, I'm a kid of the Big Three too." He still didn't look at me when he spoke.
"Oh," I said, looking out into the water, then I looked back at him. "I would appreciate it when you would look at me in the eyes when you talk to me. Really." He let out a deep breath and looked up at the sky. "I'm right here, you know, the girl sitting by the water." I waved at him.
"You are impossible. Really Riley, you are." Nico said shaking his head while he brought his eyes to look at me. In the moonlight, I saw that he was restraining to smile.
"Really? Well get used to it." I said crossing my arms across my chest and smiled a lazy grin at him.
"Uh, I think that we should start heading to the camp fire. Chiron said that if we find you to meet him there and he'll let the others know." He said turning back from where he came from.
"Oh no, I'm not going back there, not when everyone is there. Not after what hapened." I sat back down in prostest.
For the first time I noticed that my head stopped hurting. That and how hot Nico looks in the moonlight. Wait, was that just what I thought?! Gosh, what has happened to me. Maybe Nico is right, maybe that rock really did mess up my brain, because that wasn't just what the normal me would think, right?
"Ugh, someone, help me!" I threw my arms in the air in frustration.
"What's wrong? And what happened back there, that's normal. You were claimed by your godly parent. Happens to all of us, some are a bit more embarrassing then what happened to you." Nico said. "Now lets go, before Chiron makes us clean the dishes for the rest of the week."
I gave in a got up. "I hope you can lead me back without anymore "incidents" on the way there." All I heard from the shadows was a snicker.
"No promises there." He said.
"Then I'm gonna stay here until morning." I sat back down, the water lapping at my back. All of a sudden all that what I felt for him turned into hatred towards the death kid.
"Oh come on! You can't be serious, can you?" Nico stepped out of the shadows again.
"Oh I am."
"Okay. What ever. " He said turning around.
"Wait," I sighed and watched as he stopped walking. "Can you promise me one thing? Promise me to never, and I mean never, to talk to me and not to bother me again, okay?" I saw that he stiffened when I said that.
