Claire's POV
It was Tuesday morning and last night was still running through my head.
After the kiss we both went back to the movie embarrassed/shocked.
After the movie was over Clyde's parent arrived and he went home.
I got out of bed and quickly changed into a pair of skinny jeans that were ripped on the knee and an American eagle t shirt.
I slipped on my brown combat boots and decided to walk to school.
I texted my brother I was doing that since I had extra time.
I began walking and was about halfway there when I noticed a house that had many people in front of it crying and wearing black.
It was someone's funeral. I walked to the group and decided to show my respect.
"I'm so sorry for your loss." I told the group of people who turned around.
"You knew Andrew Buckle too?" The older lady asked.
Andrew Buckle, that sounds familiar... BUCKLE! Mr. Buckle!
"Mr.Buckle?"
She nodded "he hasn't died yet but he's in critical condition and he won't survive longer than a week."
I felt sick to my stomach and my tears began to build up.
"Come here." The older women said while pulling me in to hug her.
I backed away and rubbed my eyes.
"I have to get ready to go to school."
"Okay take care." She said while waving.
***
I walked into the building feeling sick and sad and depressed all at the same time.
On the school bulletin board was a note for show choir student.
"Meet in the auditorium before school!"
I saw this and knew exactly why, they were gonna tell us the news and say show choir is gonna end for the rest of the year.
I walked to my locker and put my things in and slammed it shut while walking to the auditorium.
When I walked in Ashley, Emma, and Mackenzie were talking quietly.
Mike and Scott were sitting far part while throwing a football back and forth.
Dustin and Eric were just sitting waiting while Hayley Stars was looking over sheet music.
I sat next to Georgia and Hudson while we waited for Clyde to roll.
When he did the principal followed In behind.
Clyde rolled into the spot next to mine and smiled.
When I didn't smile back he asked "what's going on?"
Then the principle started to talk
"Attention show choir students we have a very important message Mr. Buckle will no longer be your teacher."
Then came the outrage
"Why?"
"Then I'm out."
"What happened?"
"QUIET! Mr Buckle was in a very bad accident he's in the hospital now and-" he looked down while rubbing his eyes
"Won't survive longer than a week."
He said while his voice cracked.
No one said anything everyone was quiet, shocked, and confused.
"Well we need to go see him!" Hayley Announced.
"Sit down goody two shoes!" Georgia yelled.
But Hayley wasn't wrong I stood up and walked to the stage while patting our principle on the back as he walked away.
"Okay I've only been in show choir for about a week, but in that week I have learned so many things and one thing is that music can pull people closer, so I say we all go to the hospital and sing for Mr. Buckle."
Everything went quiet.
Great there's gonna be an outrage soon.
But something else happened people started clapping.
I looked up and everyone was standing up clapping besides Clyde of course he was sitting and clapping.
Hayley walked up and patted me on the back "can I take over?"
I nodded.
"Okay Claire is right guys we need to sing for mr. Buckle cause from what it sounds like this will be the only time. We can go ask the front office if we can go together right now."
"Right now?" Mike asked
Hayley nodded
"But I have gym."
Everyone stared at mike because of the comment.
"Yeah now that I was thinking let's go see mr.buckle." He nervously mentioned.
***
After about 10 minutes of convincing we were on our way to the hospital, we had no idea what we were gonna sing so we started talking about it...
"Let's sing if I die young." Hayley announced.
No one said anything for awhile until Scott said "no we need to sing a song about strength because he's gonna get through this I know it lets sing keep holding on"
Everyone agreed to that and we were going over parts I had about a 15 second long solo which I was glad because I really want to see mr.buckle pull through this.
***
When we got there the doctors looked at us confused
"Don't you have school?"
"Where's mr.buckle, Andrew Buckle.?" Ashley asked
The doctors then came to realization that he was our teacher "right this way."
***
When we got in the room it was breathtaking and not in a good way.
There lied our teacher with tubes and IVs connected to him he was in a coma.
"I'll let you guys have a moment." The doctors then walked out.
No one knew what to say, because honestly I never thought I'll be doing this in a million years.
Hayley took charge "we really hope you pull through this, we have a number, actually are first number and that's keep holding on because we know you'll make it."
Clyde started the radio he had brought with him.
Everyone started singing the backup while I walked closer to mr.buckle and grabbed his hand and started to sing
"Your not alone,
Together we stand,
I'll be by your side,
You know I'll take your hand."
I walked back and Clyde sang his solo.
Then came the chorus
"Keep holding on
Cause you'll know we'll make it through
We'll make it through
Just stay strong
Cause you know we're here for you
We're here for you"
When the last note played we all looked at mr.Buckle hoping he would do something.
Everyone was either crying or trying there best they could not to.
Everyone was quiet when a beep rang through the room.
