"Sage?? Open up!"

My eyes fluttered open and I slowly eased up and leaned on the counter.

"I'm fine. I will be out in a few." I said, my voice raspy from being asleep. I heard Clint sigh from the other side before his footsteps disappeared.

I flattened my hair down when the air vent suddenly opened and Clint dropped down in front of me.

"Man, you look terrible." He lifted me up on the counter top and checked my nose again.

I chuckled and winced when pain shot through my side. "Trust me, I know. You know why I left right?" I glanced up at him as he stepped back.

"Yeah. I get it. We all do, except Nat and, weirdly, Bucky." He helped me on my feet, "I got that. Bucky was quiet with me when he was dragging me back here. Nat did attack me as well. I felt their vibes. Loud and clear."

I glared at the floor when my ribs shifted. "I am going to kill her." I casually stated and stretched my arms out.

He stared at me with worry laced in his eyes, "I know you are mad at her, but see it in her eyes." He tried to reason as I pushed by him and out the door.

"She should know how it feels to be kept somewhere. You aren't going to stop me, Clint." I hissed and walked to the kitchen.

Clint followed behind me and kept trying to hold my arms back. I turned the corner and stopped. Nat and I stared at each other. She had remorse and worry pushing through her eyes.

I, on the other hand, had resentment. "You are going to die today." I calmly said and stepped closer to her. She darted to the other side of the room.

"Ms. Baker, please think this through. You could have been hurt out there." Steve stepped between us and everyone tensed up including Thor and Loki.

"I am a Marine. I can handle myself." I growled and stood tall in front of him. "You wouldn't have gotten captured if you could handle yourself." Nat grunted and crossed her arms.

If this was a cartoon, steam would be coming out of my ears.

"I VOLUNTEERED to stay back! Do you know why? Because it was my job to get my squad back safely. It was all of us or me. I choose me. Want to know why? I don't have a family besides you, and you are always too busy with them to help me. Remember when I called you on October 13th? I was calling for help, but you were too busy." I blurted out and threw a steak knife at her.

Unfortunately, she dodged it.

She stared at me with sorrow in her eyes, "Why didn't you say anything?" She quietly asked.

"That is the day I got captured, and you were too busy with your play-mates to help me. I just realized. My only family is the ones that brought me back." I hissed and crossed the room to be right in front of her.

She stared at the floor between us as silent tears fell down her face. I was way too angry to cry. "Sage, you don't mean that." Clint quietly said.

"Trust me, Clint. I mean every word, including these, I don't like any of you, and I know y'all don't like me. Give me a break. Why would any of you like an average soldier? All of you can go to hell. Bye." I flipped them off and stormed towards the door.

I punched the elevator button and ran a head through my hair. With the help of the rage, it dulled the pain in my side. I jumped in as soon as the doors were opened. I clicked the garage button before finally glancing back up.

I wish I hadn't. They were all staring at me, Clint, Nat, Steve and Wanda were staring at me with tears flooding their eyes.

The doors finally closed and I relaxed against the wall. Why did I say all of that? Am I stupid? Yes, it might have been true, but they didn't need to know that.

I pulled my phone out and dialed my recruiting officer, he will be able to help me out.

S- Sage

J-Sergeant Major Jackson (recruiter)

S- Hey, this is Sage Baker. I have a favor to ask.

J- Long time, no talk, Baker. What do you need?

S- Well, you heard about my return to the States, right?

J- Who hasn't?

S- Okay, thanks. I need you to get me back over there. No combat. I just want to be back with my squad. Please, Sergeant Major.

J- *sighs* I will see what I can do. I will call you back.

He hung up and I hauled it out of the tower. At least this time, I don't have to hide under garbage.
