Chapter 1-When The Sky Fell Down

“When love becomes the one thing you can’t trust

The stars start falling down

The silver trails of dust

The atmosphere above is a glimmer of what it was

The moon reflects the sun

Like a memory of us

When the sky fell down

It shattered on the ground

When the sky fell down”-When The Sky Fell Down- SHEL

Watching him on screen feels like someone is shooting a bullet through my heart yet when seeing him with her it feels like he himself is stabbing my heart with a kitchen knife then yanking it out laughing.

Is it possible to be so broken?

I watch as the headlines flash announcing the new engaged couple of Hollywood. It used to be me and him a few years ago. Just us, no one else.

How life can change in a few weeks.

I, Sameen Gill was engaged to teenage heart-throb and member of the world’s biggest boy band One Direction. I, Sameen Gill was engaged to Zayn Malik.

He was the love of my life. My first kiss. My first boyfriend. I thought he loved me back, how wrong I was.

It was all a joke to him.

3 years later I still miss him but I forgot him entirely and started continuing with my life. But as soon as the news came up his image made its way back to mind.

The memories of our engagement ceremony and our holiday together.

Of course it was an arranged marriage but we fell in love. Well I did.

Here I am 3 years later waiting at the Manchester airport for someone from the university to pick me up.

“Sam…?” a brown haired girl around my age with a British accent came up to me holding a piece of paper with my name on it.

“No… I’m mean yes. It’s pronounced Sameen.” I said flinging my bag on my shoulder.

“But you can call me Sam.”

The girl smiled at me making her huge eyes look cat-like. “I’m Charlie.”

“Nice to meet you” I said forcing a smile.

“And this is the library,” Charlie rambled on.

From the moment I stepped foot on campus Charlie dragged me on a tour and I still had my luggage!

“Charlie could we please just go to my room?”

Charlie turned around and looked at me with sorry eyes. “I am so sorry I totally lost it. I’m just really excited.”

I couldn’t help laughing at her jumpy behaviour “Don’t worry you can take me on a tour tomorrow. Promise.”

Charlie’s eyes lit up as I finished. Suddenly she jumped and grabbed my suitcase and started rolling it down the corridor.

The whole way we hadn’t seen anyone until now.

Charlie who was speed walking ahead of me started slowing down so she was now opposite me.

“This is the boy’s dorm.” She whispered.

“CHARLIE!!”

“Oh crap,” she muttered beside me.
