5 – Dreadful Farewell
Tomorrow night, she will live, who knows how long with her knowing that the family she has would forget her. She was tired, unable to think clearly as she packed her things in her huge duffle bag. She was surprised to see how her closet was full of seraph blades and other Nephilim weapons, she’s been collecting them. She also stole Patrick’s stele. Roma was also receiving a lot of text messages from Ivy, telling her what the plan was.
Raven will go inside the Institute with her assisting him. She was taking chances to whether her father will come home tomorrow or not. She quickly put her duffle bag inside her walk in closet and shut it when she heard knocking on her door.
“C-come in.” Patrick stared at her then sat down her bed.
“What’s up with you?”
“Nothing?”
“I saw you with that strange goth girl on one of our class. Then you were just gone.” she gulped. Fear of being discovered crept down her body.
“I wasn’t gone. I was there. A lot of people were there so you probably didn’t notice me.” Roma said, as steady as possible.
“Then why were you with her?”
“I have other friends, for your information.” she answered back sharply. She normally wasn’t this angry. She was just afraid because if Patrick knew, he would tell her brother. And if her brother knew, he would tell their father.
“I didn’t say you don’t have any! You implied that on your own.” Patrick said, raising his voice. “What’s wrong with you? You’ve been acting weird earlier this evening. I know you didn’t want your brother with you all the time, but you sounded nervous…even desperately afraid back then. What’s wrong? I’m not stupid to not notice, Roma.” and then she knew, the plan was done for.
“I—“
“You two, what’s going on here?” she looked at Patrick nervously. Sebastian emerged on her bedroom door and looked confused.
“She told me I suck at the club.” he said sounding cheery, in Roma’s relief.
“I knew it. You would be as bad as I thought.” Sebastian laughed then went downstairs again.
“But really, I was great. And tell me what songs we sang if you were really there.” she swallowed hard, sweat racing down her neck. And then, thankfully, she heard Ivy’s voice inside her head.
He’s thinking about Dynamite and something about the lyrics is really stupid…horrible song, she smiled slightly. She knew Ivy was around somewhere.
“I knew it. You were lying to—why are you smiling?”
“Dynamite. You did suck. It’s a horrible song.” but she didn’t think so. Even how mockingly Ivy said it, it was a good song. She once heard him humming this song before.
“How did you…” he was taken aback. Roma felt bad. But she had to.
“I told you, I was there!” Patrick nodded.
“I must be a little paranoid. I’m sorry. I’m going home. You have a good sleep, okay?” he hugged her tight. Like he knew it was their last hug for a long time. She hugged him tighter, unable to hide the tears that stung her eyes but she forced them not to fall down her face.
