I sat down at the lunch table as Nate left to go one of his friends.
"hi." I softly spoke to Danielle and Rebecca "we are going to have two friends sit with us and I'm going to need you guys to not, not say anything. I'm not good with new people."
they both smiled and nodded "hey do you want to hang out tonight? we could watch movies at your house." I nodded excitedly.
"hello ladies, Lillie." I heard Nate speak as he sat down next to me as did his friend. he had light brown hair that was topped with a snap back his muscles where vivid through his thin white t shirt.
he definitely was a werewolf.
a growl from beside me ripped my eyes from him, as I was now staring at Nate.
he looked breath taking and this was the first time I ever admitted it.
"you checked out Cory." Nate spoke into my ear I knew he was angry but was trying to contain it.
"but I checked you out longer." I blurted making my cheeks start turning red. "I mean-uh."
my eyes shut as I heard not only Nate but also our friends start to laugh.
"that makes me feel much better." I felt his hot breathe on my neck making me jump closer to him than I expected to.
"Lillie this is Cory, my best friend." Nate spoke proudly Cory smiled brightly as my mind jumbled with questions and thoughts. what if he didn't like me? what if he thought I was some socially awkward freak?
"uh I'm hi yeah Lillie me." I nervously spoke biting on my lip. a warm hand gripped mine, looking down seeing it was Nate made me relax "these are my friends Danielle and Rebecca."
everyone exchanged greetings as we started talking about a tv show that came on last night. I didn't watch it, so I personally couldn't add on to the conversation.
I glanced over my shoulder seeing a group of people staring at me, then looked over my other and saw another group of girls glaring at me.
"N-Nate." I whispered he turned to me "what's wrong? are you ok?" he asked concerned pulling me closer.
"why are those girls glaring at me? I didn't do anything." I sounded so stupid. so vulnerable.
Nate looked over both his shoulders intently. "they're jealous, ignore them. do you want me to leave?" he asked again worry in his voice.
I shook my head "y-you calm me." I admitted his hand let go of mine making me scared that what I just said changed his feelings for me. maybe he never had feelings for me.
"can I wrap my arm around your waist?" Nate slowly questioned I knew it would make me feel safe, surprisingly his touch calmed me. it made me happy. it was all new for me.
"but I like when you hold my hand." I murmured he smiled "I can do both." I nodded as his arm slowly wrapped around my waist then intwined with my left hand. "see." he grinned pulling me closer.
"hey yoohoo, love birds." Cory spoke making me snap away from Nate. he pulled me back. "are you guys going to the Halloween party tonight?"
Danielle and Rebecca looked at me to answer. "uh we don't do parties." I spoke grabbing my apple that was in front of me.
"oh come on it's a Halloween party! they are totally harmless!" Cory explained.
"Cory are you talking about the party tonight?" "it's going to be sick!" two boys shouted walking towards us plopping down at the table "Nate man! how did the match go last night?" the guy asked making my head snap towards Nate.
"match?" I questioned
"it was sick! he beat the shit out of the man!" Cory proclaimed loudly "bloodiest match yet!"
he showed a picture of the match I'm assuming, a boy was on the floor his face covered in blood leading to another puddle.
hovering over him was a smirking Nate with bloody knuckles.
my stomach turned.
more people started crowding listening to Cory talk about Nate's match.
"he was an animal!"
"I can't believe I missed it!"
dozens of voices filled my head all unfamiliar. saying so many things I didn't want to hear.
"I'm sorry I have to go." I spoke ripping away from Nate's grip. I dashed for the door of the cafeteria heading straight to the hall way.
taking a deep un easy breath.
"Lillie!" someone shouted from behind me. I knew it was Nate but I didn't want to see him right now. "Lillie! Lillie stop walking away!"
He gripped my arm pulling me
back and making me face him.
"please don't touch me." I closed my eyes tightly as my hands started to shake. "please just leave me alone!"
the words stung my mouth.
I refused to cry. why would I cry over him. he was just a boy. we talked we went on a date that was it. I was learning to trust him.
but he was a monster, who would ever just hurt someone for fun? I didn't want to be around that.
but why did it hurt so bad?
"Y-You're a monster!" my voice came out shaky a weak "How could you do that to someone?? y-you where trying to brag about it!"
"Lillie please just let me explain." he pleaded but I refused shaking my head eagerly.
"no!" I spat harshly it surprised me "I want nothing to do with you and your hideous excuse of a hobbie. leave me alone." I felt a tear slip down my cheek.
"don't cry Lillie." he whispered going to grab my hand but I harshly moved back. I started walking down the hall hugging my jacket tighter to me.
"Lillie!" I ignored him starting to walk faster. "please." I ignored his pleads that edged at my heart.
••••••••••
"I think it would be fun to do something new for a change." Danielle spoke referring to the Halloween party tonight.
"Cory said they're always lots of fun!" Rebecca added while sitting down on the couch next to us.
"my dad would never let it happen, but you two go!" I forced a smile knowing I was going to be ditched.
"why are you always so goody goody?" Danielle spoke quite harsh
"what does your dad think?" I asked Rebecca she nervously bit her lip before answering "he doesn't know, I'm sneaking out."
"you what!" i asked dumbfounded she nodded "you should too! we both need to let loose and break away from our protective dads."
something in me told me not to. it was going to end bad I could feel it. but I continued to talk.
"we are going to the party tonight." I spoke standing up proudly.
•••••••••••••
we walked up the stairs of the huge mansion that was over flowing with people.
it was decorated with fake spider web and lit pumpkins. we stood at the front door and could easily smell the harsh alcohol.
it didn't faze my two friends as the continued into the house, as for me I stood looking around slowly.
I took a step into the packed house bodies hitting and shoving against me. I took a few deep breathes and finally made it to the kitchen.
"well I don't think we have met, I'm Jacob." a smiling boy spoke stretching his hand out to greet mine. "Lillie." I smiled his eyes went wide.
"Lillie Hale? Nate's mate? Derek Hales daughter? how the hell are you here?" he spoke shocked "I would think they would have you under lock and key." he laughed
"I'm a big girl." I retorted he held his hands in defense "do you want a drink?" he asked I shrugged "might as well." I took the cup and chugged it down. it burnt my throat but all my senses clouded when I saw Nate surrounded by other girls.
I turned to the man "could I have another?" I asked he nodded handing me another cup of different colored liquid, this one burnt even worse.
Nate's eyes found mine as he hurried to his feet trying to get through the mob of people.
I quickly dashed through the back door hoping to get away from him but a grip on my arm told me other wise.
"you shouldn't be here Lillie." he lowly spoke I didn't meet his gaze "you're ignoring me?" he asked "you know I hate when you ignore me. don't make me shout." he warned
"why shouldn't I be here?" I snapped the alcohol kicking in "too innocent? well guess what screw being innocent! go hang out with your group of sluts! I bet they love your fighting and would love to be with the infamous bad boy."
"you know I don't want them." he calmly spoke I laughed shaking my head trying to pull away from him. "Lillie let me take you home, this isn't a good place for you."
"I'm not going anywhere with you!" I spat going to walk away but he wouldn't let me go.
"let me explain." he once again calmly spoke.
"was he human?" I questioned blankly he was caught off guard by my question.
"what?"
"the man you fought. was he human?" I questioned again he sighed nodding. "did you know that before you fought?" he nodded again making my stomach flip in disgust.
I stepped back "Lillie pl-" I cut him off sharply "Don't. you knew it was an unfair fight and you did it anyways! you tried to show off how you fight to impress me! I thought it was harmless and fair fights!" I shouted at him.
"they are Lillie just let-" I cut him off again "A HYBRID AGAINST A HUMAN ISNT FAIR NATE!" i didn't know how harsh my voice was coming out until I heard it.
I was gripped and thrown over Nate's shoulder quickly as he started walking through the back yard to the parked cars "Nate put me down!" I shouted as I hit his back
"stop talking Lillie." he spoke deeply. "put me down!" I could tell he was getting irritated but the alcohol in my system was taking over.
"if you don't stop talking Lillie I'm going to yell at you and I really don't want to yell at you so please." he put me in the passenger seat buckling me in as I told him how this was kidnapping and he did that damn smirk of his that killed me.
"where are you taking me?" I questioned softly as we drove. he glanced to me slowly,
"I want to show you something."
