Let's start with the basic first before actually learning some Korean Words and expressions.



Hangul or Korean Alphabet is composed of 40 letters (21 Vowels & 19 Consonants).



▶  VOWELS ◀



Hangul has a total of 21 vowel symbols.Among them are 11 basic vowel and 10 double-vowel symbols.



■ The 11 basic vowel symbols



아 - a


어 - eo


오 - o


우 - u


으 - eu


이 - i


애 - ae


에 - e


외 - oe


위 - wi


의 - ui



■ The 10 Double-Vowels Symbols



야 - ya


여 - yeo


요 - yo


유 - yu


얘 - yae


예 - ye


와 - wa


왜 - wae


워 - wo


웨 - we

Hangul has 19 consonants symbols as shown below:



■ Mono consonants

ㄴ     n     = ni eun

ㄹ     r/l   = ri eul


ㅁ     m    = mi eum


ㅂ     b/p  = bi eup


ㅅ     s      = si ot


ㅇ    ng/not pronounce = i eung


ㅈ     j       = ji eut


ㅊ     ch   = chi eut


ㅋ     k     = ki euk
