I was doing my job. They same thing I do everyday, 5 days a week. I was serving coffee at Starbuks. That's when I saw him. He came up to my cash register to order. His luscious, brown hair swaying with every step he took. His beautiful, energetic smile that could lite up a room. What made him even more noticeable was that he was wearing and army uniform. That's what really caught my eye anyway. I have always been more interested in strong, brave men, and he obviously was both.

"Hey, can I get a Carmel frappacino?" The guy asks me.

"Sure, anything else for you today" I asked trying to stay focussed on what he was saying and not just his looks.

"Well, could I get... Your name?" He asked sweetly.

"Hmmmmmmm, I think we're out of that" I joked.

"Haha, I like you, I'm Jack" He said, holding his hand out for me to shake.

"Kim" I replied shaking his hand.

"Well Kim, should I give up my hopes on Seeing you tonight or do I have a shot?" Jack asked shyly.

"Well you might have a shot" I replied.

"What will turn that might into a yes?" He asked.

"I don't know yet, but my break is in 5 minutes, if you want to wait until then you could try to convince me" I replied.

"If that's what it takes then that's what I'll do" Jack replied.

"Okay, here you go" I said as I handed him his drink that he ordered a while ago.

"Thanks, I'll be waiting in that booth over there" Jack said pointing to and empyty booth close to the door.

"Okay I'll see you in a few minutes" I replied happily. Jack waved, and then walked away.

I know I was playing hard to get, but I wanted to show him that I'm not the type of go that lets people mess with her.

I worked for a few more minutes until it was finally my break time. I immediately took off my apron and walked over to the booth that Jack said he would be in.

My face lit up when I saw him sitting there with his back to me, bobbing his head to the song he was listening to through his head phones.

"Hey Jack" I said, as I took a seat on the opposite side of the booth as him.

"Oh, hey Kim" Jack said, taking out his headphones, and turning off his music.

"So, you've got some convincing to do" I said.

"Well I was thinking if you did want to go, we could do a picnic under the stars, and then maybe a midnight movie" Jack replied.

"Well, that is very convincing, what movie?" I asked.

"Whatever you want see" Jack said.

"Okay, you got me, I'll go on a date with you tonight" I said giving in.

"Great I'll pick you up at 7:30" Jack said.

We exchanged phone numbers and I gave him my address so he could pick me up, then I went back to work, as he walked out of the coffee shop.

Later that evening, we went on our date. We had a great time and decided to go on a few more dates. We had been going on dates for two months until he received word that he would have to return to the army base. I drove him to the airport, and cried as he go onto the plane. Even though we weren't officially dating I loved Jack. He was incredibly sweet, and caring. When he left we tried to stay in contact. He called me every other day for the first few weeks he was there. I used to sit by the phone, anticipating his call, but one day, I never got one. I sat by the phone all night, hoping and praying that he would call but he never did. That was only the beginning, he never called after that either.

It's been two years since I've talked to him. I tried to just forget about him, but that never seemed to work. It was like his name was tattooed to my brain, and every time I tried to think of something my thoughts would see that tattoo and think of Jack.

At one point, I thought I was going crazy. One day, I saw a man walk into the coffee shop, while I was working. He looked exactly like Jack, but it couldn't be him, he wasn't supposed to be back yet.

"Hey Sherry, can I take my break early?, I can't think straight right now" I asked.

"Yeah, that's fine" Sherry replied cheerfully.

I took off my apron and walked over to the booth that Jack and I sat in. I slowly brought my hands to my face and cried. I missed Jack so much, and I would do anything to see him again.

I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder as someone slid into the booth next to me.

"Kim, is that you, why are you crying" I heard the person say. That sounded like Jack. Great now I've really gone insane. I'm hearing his voice.

"Kim, please look at me" The person said again. I slowly lifted my head.

"Jack" I said in a whisper.

"Yes Kim, I'm back" He said.

"Ohhh my gosh" I squealed happily, as I flung my arms around Jack's neck and pulled him into a tight hug. "Why did you stop calling?, I was soo worried about you"

"I couldn't get to a phone" He replied.

"How come your back so early?" I asked confused.

"I got sea sick so they sent me home" Jack replied. (Jack is in the marines)

"Okay, do you know when you go back?" I asked, hoping it wouldn't be for a while.

"Yeah" He replied.

"When?" I asked, with my figures crossed.

"Never" Jack said.

"Really" I asked.

"Yes really" Jack replied.

I couldn't take it anymore, I was so overwhelmed with happiness I grabbed Jack and pulled him into a passionate kiss. At first, I could tell he was shocked, but he eventually kissed back with the same amount of passion.

Latter that year, Jack and I started officially dating.

A few years after that, we got married.

A few months after that we had a daughter named Katie.

A few years after that we had a son named Jake.
