Fabian

As I walk to the stream, I think about Lady Emma and subconsciously start touching my now black eye.

I smile.

She can throw a hard punch.

Nearing the stream I clear all thoughts of her from my head.

Entering the camp

"State your name and business." Orders the guard.

" Uh... It's me, Fabian. Ya know... Your boss' son?"

"Sorry Master Fabian. Habits."

"It's ok Jasper... Just don't do it again or I'll tell my father and you don't want that do you?"

"N-no M-mas-ster F-Fabian!"

"Good! Have a nice day Jasper."

I hesitantly walk away because I hate treating people like that.

Walking towards my father's tent (pictured below) I receive many acknowledgments.

"Good day Master Fabian."

"Good Morn, Master Fabian."

"Hello, Master Fabian."

As being the "prince" of the Black Marks, it is "beneath me" to respond to the "commoners".

"Ah, Fabian! There you are!" exclaims Isaac. "Where did that lass go?"

"Um...Uh..."

"You didn't let her get away, did you? Because, prince or not, you let a prisoner escape and that's against the code. You do know what that means, ten flo-"

"She's a witch!" I interrupt.

The Black Marks are deathly afraid of magic.

The legend says that the first Black Mark wasn't evil, and he wasn't born with black hair.

Viktor Blackman was a farmer, a terrible farmer but a farmer nonetheless. Due to his terrible farming, Viktor and his wife were hardly getting by. Viktor and his wife were forced to work two jobs, his wife Katia, was a teacher by day and a cook at the palace by night. Viktor was a stableman by day and a field worker by night.

One cold night, for winter, was swiftly approaching, Katia had just given birth to their 4th child a week ago. Suddenly, a knock was heard. Viktor answered the door and saw a man standing there. The man asked Viktor if he could take shelter from the storm for a couple of hours. Katia agreed for she had a kind and generous soul but Viktor didn't want to let the man enter because being poor made him a very greedy man and he didn't want to share his food and house with a stranger. Before the man entered, Viktor slammed the door on his toes and told him that he wouldn't let someone like him in his house. Katia went silent from shock. A loud and startling noise cut through the silence, someone was knocking on the door. This time Katia answered. The man begged to be let in for he was cold. Viktor told him to go and slammed the door again. The knocking came again and Katia begged Viktor to let the man in but he had made his mind up.
