WELCOMEEEEE
Are you excited for your first day of school, Kiki?" Kirstin's mother, Angelica, asked her.
"Yap! Yap! Yap!" Kirstin was very excited for her first day of kindergarten. She was running through the hall of their new townhouse, her pigtails bouncing up and down and cowgirl boots squeaking from the hard wood floors.
She never went to preschool or daycare before since she was living in her grandmother's house in the middle of nowhere the past five years of her life. This meant that she didn't really have any interaction with other kids her age except for a boy close by named Jeremy. They were best friends, so of course she was really sad she had to leave him.
"Mommy?" Kirstin asked her mother who was now making a peanut butter and banana sandwich for her lunch.
"What's up Sweetie?"
"Wh-what if I donut find friends like Jer Bear?"
Jer Bear was Jeremy's nickname she gave him. Her's was Kitten.
"Don't worry baby, of course you'll find new friends in no time!" Kirstin's face lit up.
"You really think so!?!?"
"I absolutely know so Kirstin."
At that point Kirstie's mom finished making her lunch and they were walking to the school Kirstin will be attending to the next eight-ish years. Turns out, there's schools for kindergarten through eighth grade.
"Oooooooh. It's sooooooo big mommy! Do you see it? Huh? Do you?"
"Of course I see it hun. Just a few more minutes and we will be at the entrance."
They finally got to the school with kids from five year olds to thirteen year olds in every direction. It looked like a zoo.
"Mommy... I'm scared."
"Don't be baby. I betcha those big kids were just as scared as you right now. So, can you pinkie promise me that you'll just have a fun time?"
Her mom asked sticking out her pinkie finger. Kirstin slowly raised her pinky finger, cautious what she was going to do. Then they joined together.
"I promise mommy."
