It was now time for lunch. Since the kids were having a great first day of school, Ms.Kelly decided it would be nice to have their lunch outside at the playground.
"Alrighty everyone, let's get our lunches and line up in front of me!"
The children got up to get their lunch boxes from their cubbies and lined up in front of their teacher, just like she asked. Once everyone was ready they walked outside to the four picnic tables next to the playground. Kevin, Avi, Mitch, Scott, and Kirstin took a table for themselves.
"M'kay Kirstin, I'm going to call you Kirstie because Kirstin is just so weird to me. M'kay? M'kay." Mitch told Kirstin before they could get their food out.
"Okee dokee!" Kirstin smiled brightly, her legs dangling from the bench. She didn't mind her new nickname at all. She actually thought it was so cool that her new friend made her one.
Once all the children finished eating, Ms.Kelly let them play before going back inside. Mitch and Avi ran to a patch of daises, Scott went to the monkey bars, and Kevin and Kirstin stayed at their table. She thought this would be a great time to get to know her new friends.
"So Kevin, what's your favorite animal?" Kirstin adored animals.
"Well, uh, I kinda like reptiles. But I think all animals are really cool."
"We're so alike! Hey, do ya think we could find some animals over there?" Kirstin pointed to a pine tree from back of the school.
"I don't think that's a good idea..." His parents always told him to not go away from the school, and it was obvious the tree was way too far.
"Oh, come on!" With a few tries, Kirstin finally got him to go over to the large pine tree. Once they got closer, Kevin noticed something.
"Hey, uh, Kirstin..." Kevin pointed to a glowing rock. Kirstin found it very interesting.
"Let's go over there then!"
"I don't think this is a good idea." Kevin muttered to himself.
Once Kirstin got close enough, she touched it.
"Whoa! It feels so funn-"
Kirstin.
It's happening.
Kirstin.Run.
Run for your fucking life, you innocent child.
