chapter 9

     Slowly the pain receded into nothing. I could feel nothing and it disturbed me. My mind was a jumbled mess of confusion, yet I knew.  Death was at my door, the chances were slim to none but I could not give up all hope.

      The childish side of my mind would not allow there to  be no hope. Someone anyone. My eyes slowly began to close and I began to feel light. My parents were still young they could have another child, hopefully they will. Till we meet again mommy and daddy.  As my eyes were about to close for the last time a flash of red caught my attention. 

       "Oh, poor little girl! My why would anyone want to hurt such a cute little thing!"Cried out the red thing. As I painfully began to focus again I noticed that the blob was a man. His brilliant green eyes gave me a little bit of hope.  Slowly I raised my right hand out to reach for him he glanced at my hand for a while but took it in his own.

       As I looked up at him a small smile spread across my lips. Thank you for looking at me, I thought as I looked into his eyes. "T..tell momm..y I love h..her." I stuttered out to him. Tears glistened in his eyes but he didn't let them fall. He shook his head no. "You can tell her when you see her again." That was just it, I would not see her again until she died and joined me in heaven. He picked me up as I began to let go again.  Everything hurt as I slowly began to lose focus.  "Hold on! I will save you.  I will save you. " He chanted over and over again. Who he was trying to convince I am not sure. Maybe it was both.

     "Alex! I miss him!" Yelled Grell, effectively bringing me out of my good old trip down memory lane.  I gave him a blank look.  "Who?" He screamed out exasperated at my cold and uncaring attitude. Inside I was giggling with delight at having annoyed the red head. I began to float away in my own thoughts as he shook me back in forth. The curtains would look better in a lighter shade of blue. "Alex! Why!?" Was he still screaming? Suddenly Grell was pushed back away from me and I was pulled into someone's arms. I looked up at my personal assistant, the fairy king himself.

     

      "My lady was he bothering you?" He asked though he knew damm well he was in a way bothering me. Sighing again I looked up at him and smiled.  "I am fine Mr. Fulton,  no need to be bothered with this." He nodded but still looked concerned.  With great care he set me in my chair once more. I pretend to not notice that he squeezed my bottom and looked over at Grell. Grell's eyes began to sparkle as he stared at my assistant. Said assistant was looking more iratated by the second. With a smile I stood and left. They could handle an hour or two together.

      I faded into the darkness as he carried me. What happened while I was out I'm not too sure of myself but it was what saved me. Grell saved me. He gave me a chance.  After that we would see each other whenever we could. He was the one who taught me that all those stories and books my parents had held some truth. Grell not only saved me but opened my eyes to the world around me.  For that I am thankful but I still hold some feelings of anger towards him for leaving me alone a year before my world went dark.
