Chapter 19

"Do you think she'll be okay?"

"Dude, the doctor said she was gonna be fine! She's an American, meaning she's a fighter; she's not gonna let some drugs get in the way of that."

"For once, you should listen to him,"

"You have no say in this! It's your fault she's in this mess, Angleterre."

"Hey guys, shut up! I think I just saw her hand move!"

I felt a hand grasp mine, and I wanted to give it a reassuring squeeze but couldn't find the strength. I tried to open my eyes, but they felt like they were weighed down with weights. After some struggle, I managed to pry them apart. The light blinded me, but I squinted and blinked to try to get used to the light. I heard a sigh of relief and looked up to see 3 blondes gathered around me.

"Please tell me I'm not about to pass out again," I said.

England chuckled, and America released a huge smile. I looked over at the hand that grasped mine and saw Francis smiling at me. He lifted my hand to his lips and kissed it gently.

"Welcome back, mon cheri," he said.

"What happened?" I asked, watching Francis rub his thumb over my knuckles.

"Ya were just abducted by some crazed 2ps and drugged up till ya were lookin like a skeleton. Then we busted into their house and created a diversion while Francis went to go find ya." America said as if it were nothing new.

"Yeah, I remember that although it's kinda fuzzy," I said hoarsely.

"Do you need any water?" Francis asked, noticing my hoarse voice.

"Yeah, water would be nice," I admitted.

He left to go get some water with America, who went to find some food from the vending machines in the lobby. I felt suddenly alone without Francis sitting beside me holding my hand.

"You know, I've never seen him act like this towards another person," England said from beside the window.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

Arthur shrugged and moved towards me.

"He was worried sick about you the whole time you were missing, more so when he found you. He has stayed by your bedside since he found you. Call me crazy if I believe this, but I think you mean more to him than just a friend. The only time I've ever see him this emotional was when Joan died, and he was literally unstable then. My guess is that if you would've died, it would have been the same as back then." England said, almost sadly.

"What are you saying?" I asked.

"I'm saying that maybe the Frog doesn't think of you as a friend anymore. I'm saying that you should be wary of him if you're wise like I think you are." he replied.

"Man! There's no food in this place!" America exclaimed as he came into the room with an armful of honeybuns and coke cans.

"Yet you're still more muscular than anyone else I know," I said, eyeing his food. My stomach rumbled in response.

"Chuck me one?" I asked, hands open to receive the holy gift.

Alfred frowned and pouted.

"But I'm starving- HEY!" he said as England snatched one of the honeybuns from his arms while he was distracted and passed it to me.

"She was drugged and unconscious; I think you'll bloody live if you let her have one." England said.

"Here's your water, Clara," Francis said, handing me a paper cup.
