Chapter 31: When a King Falls

(Kalia's Pov)

When a King falls the his castle becomes weak, his family members morn.

When a King falls thousands of vampires sat on the castles lawn to pay their respects.

When a King falls you become soft for the family.

When a King falls a New King is to be crowned.

The trumpets sounded as The steady California rain fell, I watched behind a gate holding a black umbrella.

"Cody knows about the spell." I said looking over at him and he nodded.

"You couldn't keep it a secret forever." He said. I nodded looking down and then back up as I watched Angie break down in tears. Cody seemed to be handling the death daily by his facial expressions but if you knew him like I did you'd see he was hiding his emotions, which he did very well. "Here," Isaac says am handing me and envelope that's had Mine and Kyle's name on it.

"What is it?"

"An invitation."

"To?"

"A wedding," he said "Cameron and I are getting married. I gasped

"Isaac this is great, I'm so happy for you."

"It's nothing big so.." I gave him a hug to congratulate him.

"Let's go." He said. I turned one more time to look at the funeral that was wrapping up. I couldn't wait for mine and Kyle's wedding which was exactly a week away, and the wedding shower was Wednesday.

Isaac dropped me off at home and I ran inside shutting the door.

"Kyle I'm home!" I yelled as I placed my stuff on the living room table.

"Kyle?" I asked when I heard a loud thump. I entered the kitchen and was throw back onto of dining table, breaking it in half.

"Hello Kalia... Kyle went to walk the dogs.. Guess it's just you and me."  He said and I growled standing up and throwing a broken piece of wood into his stomach. He gasped and pulled it out quickly looking at me with a devilish grin. I went to run upstairs but he pulled me back as I punched him. I ducked as he threw a punch. Stomach Pericles my stomach as I was thrown backwards.

Glass shattered around me as I hit the ground outside of the house.

"Kalia!" Kyle said coming over to me.

"I'm fine, it's Keaton." I said pointing to the house and realized he pushed the broken wood into my stomach. I grunted as I grabbed hold of it and pulling it out with a sigh of relief

I ran inside to see Kyle's heart in Keaton's hand.

"NOO!!!" I yelled as he let him go and Kyle's body hit the floor. Keaton dropped his heart beside him and I crawled over to him.

"Kyle!"I cried. No this wasn't supposed to happen, how did I not see it? I rested my head on his neck as I cried over him.

I didn't worry about Keaton, I was so focused on Kyle that I didn't hear someone walk in.

"Kai.." Jaden said softly, grabbing me and pulling me back.

"No let me go!"

"Kalia calm down..I'm sorry." He said pulling me into a hug, as I cried in his chest.

"Why did they die? Everyone I've ever loved died." I cried.

(Cody's Pov)

"I didn't tell you to go after Kalia. That's the third time."

"When Kyle died it trigger something I Kalia, I'd never seen it before. She just cried over his body until-"

"Jaden dragged her away?"

"Yeah how'd you know?"

"The same thing happened when I died. I'm sorry Keaton but you time here is over and I no longer need your assistance." I said before ripping out his heart.

(Narrators Pov)

Kali's couldn't bare to talk to Kyle's mother. She stayed at Jaden in her old bedroom bring Copper and Gunther. She couldn't keep them at Jaden's, Alice was allergic, and she could stay much longer  because they were turning her room into Leah's bedroom.

After a couple day she went to Peters apartment and a young, tanned woman with dark hair and green eyes opened the door. It was Christina. She was more pretty than what Kyle had described.

"It's just for a little while," she said. "I promise." Hell Kalia wouldn't even go near the house, no one could blame her though. Her fiancee did die there.  She just stayed in Peters apartment, watching TV, sitting there. She didn't sleep for a while, if she did shed relive the couple nights before. Peter would comfort her but he was a General Surgeon now, he needed the sleep. It sucked, it really sucked how your bad can change in the blink of an eye. Kali's arrived in Arkansas the following days later.

When you lose someone that you loved, and known for so long it was one of the hardest thing you could ever go through. You think your getting better but you get a flashback, hear a song that reminds you of them, and it feels like a stab in the heart. Close friends and family where in Arkansas Kyle Jame Matthews was laid to rest to the left side of his father. Jaden and Peter held her hands through the whole ceremony.

As much as Roman told her she didn't have to go home after the funeral, she did. Gunther stayed behind in Arkansas While Kalia left every memory of him behind. It wasn't like he could be buried in Los Angeles, all of his family was buried in Arkansas.

Everyone seemed to notice how Kalia didn't even try to contact Isaac to resurrect him. Isaac probably wouldn't have done it anyway, but it had to be worth a shot? They worried for her waiting for her to lash out as she did after Cody's faked death. It didn't happen until weeks after. Peter noticed it first. How she stopped screaming in the middle of the night; she wasn't even in the apartment. Jaden realized it too how they talked about death of TV; he hoped it was just Cody. Roman realized it. Clary realized it. Everyone close to here realized that she did break, and she had a certain blonde boy right by her side persuading her.

"How about we lash out together. Imagine how much trouble we can both cause." He had asked her on the roof of Peters apartment building. He held out his hand, and Kalia knew he was poison and grabbed it anyway.
