**Zayn POV**

My eyes open lethargically, blinking a few times to get used to the bright lights. The smell of rubbing alcohol overwhelms me, and the unfamiliar white sheets feel itchy against my skin.

"Where am I?" I ask. My voice is slow and groggy.

"In the hospital, sweetie," a voice says. I turn my head to see a nurse smiling at me with an expression full of pity.

"What happened?"

"A car accident, do you not remember?" Her cherry red lips pout at my poor memory and suddenly it all comes back to me.

Niall and Liam coming to my house, me getting angry and storming out, driving, going to Callie's house. Callie's mom, the car's headlights...

"Callie?" I try to sit up but the nurse gently puts her hand on my shoulder and prevents me from getting up.

"She came to visit earlier, she was with a man with curly hair and a girl who looked like her sister," the nurse explains. "You woke up momentarily when she spoke to you, but not for long. Is she someone special?" I pause for a little bit before choosing my words carefully.

"Yeah, she's someone special," I bite my lip so hard I almost draw blood. She smiles at me knowingly.

"I'm going to fetch you some food, I'll be right back," she leaves the room, closing the door silently.

I sigh and shift a little in the small hospital bed, trying to remember what happened that night. I think I was too blinded by my hate to Callie's mom and lost focus of the road, or something like that, but I'm not sure. It's all a big mess to me right now, I guess I'll try to figure it out later when my head isn't hurting like a fucking bitch.

My thoughts are disturbed when the door reopens, a different nurse with short brown hair and twinkling brown eyes is back with a tray of food. Her name tag read Mariam.

"Here," she gently sets the tray down in front of me and my mouth waters at the sight of food.

"What hospital am I in?"

"The Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital," she replies sweetly.

Good. This is one of the best hospitals in Oregon, also the one hospital with decent food.

"Thank you," I say, and I start to wolf down the mash potatoes. The nurse continues to stare at me while I eat. I give her a dirty look and she looks away quickly.

"There's three people waiting to see you, are you ok with that?" she asks, looking anywhere but me.

Great. I've managed to intimidate her without her doing anything wrong.

"Who are they? What do they look like?" If it's Callie and Harry, then by all means get them in here right now. I need them.

"A tall man with curly hair, lots of tattoos, and a girl with blonde hair and a younger girl that looks just like the older,"

"Yes," I say. She nods and rushes out of the room. Moments later, Callie, Harry, and Danielle come into the room.

"What happened?" was the first thing to come out of Harry's mouth.

"Aw hi guys, I missed you too," I say sarcastically. Leave it to Harry to be a sarcastic bastard.

"I'm so glad you're ok," Callie whispers and pulls me into a hug.

"Yeah, me too," I joke. She hits me playfully and I laugh. The whole room quiets down and I look at them, confused. Callie pulls away from me and looks at me with an unreadable expression.

"Did I do something wrong?" I frown.

"You laughed," Danielle smiles.

"So?" I shrug.

"It means you're ok," Callie points out.

I laugh again.

"Of course I'm ok," I say, and then the room falls into an awkward silence, again.

"So, what happened?" Harry asks gently.

"Do I have to talk about it now?" I whine. It's kind of a touchy subject for me... I'm not ready to tell them why I was driving while I was blinded with anger. Especially when that anger was to Callie's mom.

"No, tell us when you're ready, take all the time you need," Callie assures me. Harry frowns in disapproval but doesn't say anything.

"Thanks," I smile up to Callie and she smiles back.

She seriously is the best friend anyone could ever have. Loyal, honest, supportive, caring, but most of all, I can trust her with my life. And that's all you need in a relationship, whether it's romantic or platonic.

Trust. It's the best thing you can have.
