Chapter 7 ; Highway Troubles

After the pair eating at IHOP, they decided to spend the night in a Walmart parking lot. Chase slept in the front seats, letting Grayson sleep comfortably in the back. Chase being his insomniac self, after two hours of somewhat sleep, he started to make his way to Bakersfield, California.

At around 10 am, when Grayson woke up, Chase started falling asleep while driving. They had just entered Arizona and Chase almost slid off the highway if it weren't for Grayson managing to steer back onto the highway. Chase pulled over and got out of the car, slamming the door. He looked at the cars passing in front of him, slightly leaning forward.

He quickly thought of the first time he saw Ashton on her longboard as he was walking across the street. He almost got ran over, which got Ashton's attention. He snapped out of his train of thought, taking a step forward. The closest car in the highway lane was about 1000 feet away, so Chase stood there for a few seconds before getting tackled to the ground by Grayson.

They landed on the side of the road as the cars started passing by them once again. Grayson stood up and started yelling at Chase, "What the fuck?! You could've gotten yourself killed!" Chase stood up looking Grayson in the eyes. "I don't understand why I have to go to California. I'm fucking over Emma. She doesn't give a shit about me! She only cares about me when she's fucking heartbroken and no one else is there for her!" He screamed back at Grayson and whispered, "I rather go see Ashton.." he looked down at his feet, playing with his fingers.

Grayson sighed, "Okay I guess.. So we wasted this whole time driving the opposite direction?" Chase nodded, smiling innocently. He quickly got in the back of the car, falling asleep almost instantly. Grayson sat in the drivers seat, looking back at Chase, shaking his head. "Fucking dork." He muttered, before turning around and getting back into the highway, heading east.
