Addison Montgomery just left her friend and fertility specialist, Naomi after finding out she can no longer get pregnant. She is walking to the beach, when she sees two little girls walking down the sidewalk. The older of the two girls walks into a liquor store, but nobody else sees.

Addison sees the younger of the two girls standing all alone and walks over to the younger girl. She smiles, "Hi, I'm Addison. What's your name? Are you lost, sweetie?"

The little girl looked at Addison with a sullen look and shook her head as she spoke bluntly, "I'm not supposed to talk to strangers."

Addison nodded, "Okay are you waiting for your mommy? Did she go inside that store right there?" She pointed to the liquor store.

"No my mommy's at work." The little girl replied lying and Addison just nodded

The older girl walked out of the liquor store. She had a backpack which held the alcohol she had stolen for her mother. She couldn't legally buy alcohol since she's only ten years old, and if she goes home without any her mom would beat her.

"Who are you? Why are you talking to my sister?" The older girl asked angry and protective

"I'm Addison Montgomery, a concerned citizen. I'm also a fetal and neonatal surgeon, which just means I'm a surgeon for babies." Addison explained "I'm concerned because you both are young and are wandering the streets alone."

"We're not alone." The older girl said as she put an arm around her sister "We have each other. Also we're not wandering the streets. We're heading home from school."

"And we have a mommy." The younger girl added

Addison nodded and sighed softly, "Okay well do you both have names?"

The younger girl nodded. She was more confident with her older sister by her side.

"What's your name, sweetie?" Addison asked as she gave the girl a smile

"I'm Elianna, but my friends call me Elia, and this is my sister, Jaelynn, but she prefers Jae or Jade." The younger girl, who is eight years old, stated

Jaelynn glared at her sister and then looked at Addison, "We have to go. Our mom is excepting us to be quick."

"Okay" Addison said as she handed Jaelynn a piece of paper "Here's my number in case you need it."

"We don't need it. Our mom takes care of us." Jaelynn spat even though she knew it was a lie and she wanted someone to rescue her and her sister from their mom, but she was scared that no one would believe her. Or that they'd be forced to move back in with their mom. Or that maybe their mom would move out of the country with her and her sister.

Elianna accepted the paper, "Thanks Addison."

Addison smiled and gave a small nod, "You're welcome."

As the two girls walked away, Addison sighed softly. She saw the scared look in the older girl's eyes, and it pained her to see a kid so young and so scared.

Meanwhile with Elianna and Jaelynn, as they are walking home.

"Elianna" Jaelynn warned "What on earth were you doing? We can't talk to anyone. If mom finds out about that woman, I'm really going to get it."

Elianna nodded and looked down guiltily, "I'm sorry, Jae. I just want someone to save us from mommy. I never wanted to cause you to be hurt. I love you and I hate when mommy hurts you."

"I know you want to be saved, Elia. I do too, but we have to be careful about how we go about it." Jaelynn explained "And I love you too, Elia, which is why I never let mom hurt you."

Elianna nodded, "I know." Then she mumbled sadly, "I miss daddy. I wish he was still alive."

"Yeah. I miss daddy too. Mommy was nice when he was alive." Jaelynn told her sister before the walked into the front door of their house.

Jaelynn and Elianna's mother, Whitney turned her head to the door and walked toward her kids as Jaelynn push Elianna behind her.

"What took you brats so long?" Whitney asked angrily as she prepared to slap Jaelynn

"I'm...I'm sorry, mom...mommy. I...I almost got caught." Jaelynn stuttered

Whitney slapped Jaelynn across the face hard, "Just tell me you got what I asked for?"

Jaelynn bit her lip to prevent from crying as she nodded.

"I need to hear a verbal response." Whitney yelled as she slapped Jaelynn across the face again

Jaelynn nodded again, "Y...yes mom...mommy. It...Its in my backpack."

"Okay give it to me now and then go upstairs with your sister." Whitney told Jaelynn firmly

Jaelynn took the backpack off her shoulders and then handed it to her mother. Then Jaelynn took Elianna upstairs while keeping her on the side furthest away from their mother.

Once they were upstairs in their room, Elianna looked at her sister and asked, "Jae? Why does mommy hate us?"

"She doesn't, Elia. She just misses daddy and isn't allowing herself to grieve the right way." Jaelynn explained

Elianna nodded, "Okay Jae."
