Hey guys, sorry i haven't updated in forever, i had school ending and then my computer is super slow and almost dead (I have it plugged in but it won't charge so i need a new one) but i will be getting a knew one sometime this summer and i'll be able to update more frequently if my schedule allows. Oh well here's the next part :D
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Barry had run out as the Flash to search the city for where Alex could be. I offered to help him but he demanded I stay at STAR labs with Cisco and Caitlyn. I sat in one of the chairs they had around while they worked on the computers. My knee was shaking and I kept chewing on my finger in anxiousness as I stared off into space.
"We're gonna find her Kat. Don't worry." Caitlyn said to me, grabbing me out of my trance.
I sighed, "Yah, but at what cost? As you all know, Zoom is powerful, he doesn't lose, not without some price anyways."
"Hey, don't say that," Cisco said reassuringly, "We're gonna find Alex in time, as Caitlyn said, and we'll rescue her and we'll all be okay, alright?"
I nodded hesitantly, "I want to believe you, I do, really... It's just I can't help but think of the negatives. We could not find her in time, or we do and that puts Barry in danger. I don't want him to get hurt because I'm dragging you all into this to begin with and it would all be my fault."
"We're happy to help, and of course we don't want Barry to get hurt either but it happens sometimes, it's part of the job of being a superhero sadly. You just have to try and think of the positives and have an optimistic outlook on the outcome." Caitlyn said and gave me a small smile.
"I'll try, thanks Caitlyn." I said and smiled back.
"How you doing, Barry? Find anything?" Cisco asked through a microphone.
"Nothing yet, but I'm not done searching yet." Barry responded through a couple of speakers sitting on the desk.
"Let us know as soon as you find anything." Caitlyn said back to him.
"Will do." Barry said.
"So I'm guessing you're a meta-human if Zoom wanted you to kill Barry, am I right?" Cisco asked with almost an excited look on his face.
I nodded, "So I'm not the first one he's tried to get to do this?"
"What can you do?" Cisco asked, excitedly. At the same time Caitlyn began to answer my question, "No, you're not, but nearly all the other meta-humans Zoom has hired, have all desperately tried to kill Barry, just so they could get back home to Earth-2."
"So me denying Zoom and his request really probably took him by surprise." I stated.
"Defiantly." Caitlyn nodded.
"Why didn't he just kill me then?" I asked. In all honesty it made no sense. Why keep me alive if I have literally no purpose to him at this point?
"He's probably hoping you'd change your mind after you found out he had Alex." Cisco responded.
"Maybe but it still doesn't really add up. You would think that because I've now denied his request, it would be just a waste of his time to keep her and keep me alive. He should have just killed both of us once I made it clear I wasn't helping him. He's got to have something bigger in mind then." I explained.
"That's got to be it; we'll warn Barry once he gets back." Cisco said, even though he only seemed like he had been half paying attention, but he continued, "So what can you do? I need to name you."
"Um... Name me?" I asked.
"Yes, I give all the meta-humans names in the city and from Earth 2, it's an art." He stated. I looked at Caitlyn who just shrugged.
I stood up and walked to the center of the room and faced Cisco and Caitlyn. I concentrated on wrapping a vine around the bottom of Cisco's chair while he watched with anticipation.
"Well...?" Cisco asked impatiently.
I smirked, "Hold on."
He gave me a confused look right before I made the vine sprout up quickly towards the ceiling, but stopped it before it grew too high. Caitlyn jumped back and stood up from her chair and starred at the vine in amazement.
"This is amazing! What else can you do?" Cisco asked from above.
I transformed my hands and lower arms into vines and shot them towards the rafters up by Cisco, once I grabbed on I began to shrink them so I'd go upwards towards him.
"I can grow and control any type of plant I come across and I am able to transform my body into a plant if ever need be, like right now. Hang on let me get us back down." I explained while Caitlyn still stood amazed now next to Dr. Wells.
I grew a branch from the vine that Cisco sat on and hopped onto it. Then began to shrink it back down into nothing. "Very impressive Miss Allison, that's quite the talent." Dr. Wells complimented me.
"Thank you," I smiled.
"That was so cool. My mind is literally buzzing with ideas right now, like a swarm of bees. Well, no not bees I don't like bees, maybe more like a swarm of-" Cisco began but I stopped him.
"I get the picture Cisco," I laughed.
"I need to run some tests." Caitlyn said and dragged me towards one of the rooms on the side where it looked like there was a bunch of medical supplies. Cisco sat there at the desk deep in thought. I gave her a startled look.
"Once I run these tests, we'll be able to understand your ability more and get a better control of it. Who knows we may find out you can do more than you think." She explained to me.
I nodded in understanding and let her use me almost as a Guinea pig. She recorded everything she found out onto paper but wouldn't tell me anything when I asked questions. Barry arrived back a few minutes later.
"I'm so sorry, Kat. I searched over the city three times and I couldn't find any trace of Zoom or your best friend. We'll keep searching though, I'm not about to give up." Barry said to me from the doorway. He still wore his suit but he had taken his mask off of his face.
I nodded, "Thank you, Barry, I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't asked you guy for help."
Just then there was an excited shout from the cortex. "I GOT IT!" Cisco ran in the room we were all in completely ignoring Barry and then stopped when he faced me. All the while, he repeated enthusiastically, "I got it. I got it. I. Got. It."
He folded his hands together and held them so his fingers were in front of his lips. He took a deep breath as he closed his eyes then reopened them to look at me. Cisco pointed at me with both hands, "What do you think of... wait for it... what do you think of..." I sat on the hospital bed with different wires connected to me and looked at him with anticipation. There was excitement and joy in his eyes as a smile spread across his face. "... Sprout." He held his arms out to the side and backed up, looking almost like he just threw a comeback at someone without stuttering.
I thought for a second. It was simple enough and made sense with my ability. "Yah," I said, "I like it." Then I smiled at Cisco. Cisco made a fist with one of his hands and brought it close to his face, "Nailed it." He whispered to himself. Suddenly, Cisco's hand dropped as his face became a neutral expression and it looked as if he was just starring off into space.
"He's vibing again."
