When Grant got the call he was going down the stairs to get soda from the fridge.

"Hello?" Grant said.

"Are you Grant Allen?" Someone asked.

"Yes, why?"

"Do you remember what happened in sixth grade?"

"Yes, the adventure," Grant replied skeptically.

"Good, I'm Raven Chen."

"Yeah, I remember you, you kind of hit me in the arm the last week when I accidentally spilled iced coffee on you at summer camp."

"How did you know who I was?"

"You had a name tag, but you left before I could apologize."

"That sounds like you," a voice said in the background.

"Who's that?" Grant asked.

"That was Terra," Raven answered.

"Oh yeah, I know her, Liam told me that she told him that Erica had a crush on Caleb."

"Wait, seriously?" Raven asked Terra.

"Yeah."

"Anyway," Raven said, "this virus thing is from the aliens that abducted you guys and stuff."

"Stuff?" Grant asked.

"Yeah, what's wrong with 'stuff'?"

"Stuff."

They started laughing.

"That," Terra said, "was good."

"So," Raven told him, "could you come over to my house?"

"Why?" Grant asked.

"Terra and I are having a planning meeting," Raven said.

"I could probably come over tomorrow morning, where do you live?"

"It's by Navy."

"Yeah. I could probably come tomorrow," Grant told her.

"Well, bye, I'm calling Ivy."

"Ivy Grayson?" Grant asked.

"Hey, that's what I said when Raven told me about her," Terra said.

"Bye."

"Bye."

Grant hung up.

So that's what it's like to talk to girls. His friends were trying to get him to be more social around girls.

"Mom!" Grant called.

"Yeah?" his mom answered.

"Can I go to a friend's house tomorrow?" Grant asked.

"Sure. Just be back by dinner time."

"Okay, Mom."

Suddenly Grant heard his mom scream and a crash filled the room.
