DRAKE'S P.O.V
I hate it here so much.
It's absolutely horrid, and I'm pretty sure I've seen a few lizards. And bugs. A lot of bugs. Gross.
I got up off the bed, blinking open my eyes. My vision felt a little unfocused for a second, so I blinked a few more times..
..better.
I sighed, looking around, regardless of the fact that I knew there would be nothing that interesting to see. I, instead, turned my vision to my hands. If only my imagination was reality and there would be actual magic at my fingertips right now. Unfortunately, I used all my mana a while ago.
I swear I can hear voices down the hall..it sounds like two people having a conversation cell-to-cell. I would assume it was Grayson and Mia, but there could be anyone else in these cells besides us. Which, I wouldn't be surprised. It is The Empire, after all. I let my mind roam free like this for a while, until a small knock at my cell door snapped me back into reality.
Oh..great..
"Hello..Drake, was it?" The Emperor said in a voice that really disturbed me, like he was going to do something at any given moment. He could, if he wanted. I didn't say anything for a moment, not sure what to do. I was frozen for what seemed like forever, but only a few seconds, then I spoke.
"Yes." I said in the voice I know is so horribly awkward and monotone. He seemed rather amused by this, his sinister look faltering for a moment as he grinned a little, which made me slightly embarrassed for a second. "Ahem." I coughed a little, feeling awkward. "..What do you want?"
"Well, if that traitor, Grayson," His tone sharpened to hatred as he spoke Grayson's name, but he continued. "told you anything about himself, you should know that the dragon egg, which he stole, is the only source of strong magic in the whole world." I visibly tensed as he began explaining, trying to force myself back into relaxing.
"Now, I believe that it is quite obvious what I'm trying to say here." He went over the door, unlocking it and entering the room. I looked at him, finally getting a closer look at the man. He was shorter than me, which is no surprise. He had a blue-grey hair color, with darker strands of blue going through his hairlocks. He seemed younger than I originally thought, maybe a few years older than me. Although he was slightly underwhelming in appearance, he had a sense of power and authority, and something dark and sinister lingering in there, unbalancing his aura by a ton. It was threatening.
I instinctively took a step back, and for the first time, I was actually somewhat afraid.
He didn't seem phased by this, and he locked the door behind him. He took a few steps forward, then he stopped.
"I believe you know what I want." He murmured, terrifyingly quiet and threatening. "And I will do whatever it takes to have it." He placed one of his hands at what seemed to be the hilt of a sheathed sword. "Understand? We can do this the easy way, or the hard way. It's your choice."
I froze for a second, and backed away a few more steps. "I'm not doing anything you want."
"Oh? That's a shame, I actually kind of liked you, too bad I'm gonna have to take it away from you by force." He unsheathed his sword, bracing himself to swing. "Are you sure you want me to do this? You could always just give it up, and no one needs to get hurt this way." The Emperor smiled, as if he were looking forward to doing this for a long time. "Although it is more entertaining this way."
I felt stuck to the spot I was in, my entire body was so tense and it felt as though I couldn't move. I didn't say anything in reply to his threat. I..I can't move...why cant I move my body? It feels as though my entire body won't respond to what I want to do. I can barely see, and my head hurts..-u-ugh..
The Emperor didn't say anything in reply to my silence, and the next thing I knew there was a searing pain in my arm, and I could finally move again. I stood in shock for a few moments. Due to the sudden weakness of my body and the intense burning pain, my knees buckled and I fell. I looked down, and there was a deep, long slash in my arm, that was oozing out blood rather quickly.
"Oh, I hate to hurt you this way, but I'm afraid we're going to have to end this conversation in a few moments here..don't try to struggle when you wake up, alright? It won't end well, I can tell you that." I heard footsteps behind me, and before I could fully react, everything went black.
---
Ugh..my head..why does my head hurt so badly?
..
Where am I?
I realized with a jolt what had happened. The Emperor..and suddenly I was reminded of the burning pain in my arm. It felt better, a lot better, but I don't think it was healed all the way..although, it feels like it was healed with magic. Not with medicine or anything. That girl, Alrina, she was working for The Empire, right? She had to have been, after the incident with her, we ended up here. Maybe she healed me. It doesn't seem realistic for her to heal me willingly, though..
I blinked open my eyes, and gradually all the feeling seeped back into my body. It feels like..I'm hanging, the ground just barely meeting my feet. I looked up. My hands were bound by chains, the chains set firmly in the air. They were attached to the ceiling, but it didn't really seem like anything was properly connecting them together. I struggled to stay on the ground, needing to use my toes for once.
I heard footsteps behind me, calm and collected as it slowly got closer and closer. I tensed, bracing for any sort of attack. But nothing happened. It was hard to see, the lighting in this room wasn't so great so I couldn't tell who was there even when they were in front of me. But it wasn't hard to tell when he finally spoke. "Hello, Drake..you sure did take your time, it's been a few days. It's a wonder how your muscles aren't so tense." I twitched with annoyance as I felt a cold finger quickly slide across my arm.
"Don't touch me." I snapped, trying to move away but failing. It was like I couldn't move in these chains..
"Oh? Did you just snap at me? You shouldn't get an attitude like that with me..I'm sure it won't get you anywhere." A sudden movement, like an intense pressure forced itself against my stomach. I groaned in pain, and I could tell my stomach didn't really like what just happened.
Agh-..! D-Damn.. Warm, clinging liquid poured out of my mouth, dripping onto the floor and staining my shirt a dark scarlet color. "Try to understand that no one talks to me, The Emperor, like that. Now, I suspect you know why you're here and what you're gonna do for us."
I didn't say anything, closing my eyes as I was still recovering from the punch. "Speak." The Emperor demanded. "I-I'm not going to do anything for you, n-no matter what you d-do to me.." I managed to put it into words, coughing a little. "Tsk tsk. That's where you're wrong. Everyone has their breaking points! It's just a matter of time until it's time for yours." The Emperor said in a matter-of-fact tone, like he's done this countless times before.
"Now, since I'm so generous, I'll leave you here to your thoughts. I'll be back tomorrow, I expect that your mind will be made up by then." The Emperor gave a crooked smile, and then left without a word.
I can't sleep.
