GRAYSON'S POV
At this point, Grayson felt utterly hopeless. Everything seemed to be taking its time, nothing is happening. At least, nothing that could lead to their escape. Sure, he had exchanged a few words with Luke, but nothing too important. Grayson was still angry with the former assassin, for being responsible for his family's death, completely betraying him in general, and shooting his best friend in the leg. He couldn't say that the two were on the greatest of terms. It didn't stop them from having a conversation here and there, though. Occasionally reminiscing, the happiness of their past together having blinded them from their now rather.. complicated friendship. If you could call it a friendship, that is.
Over time, Grayson could tell that Luke had turned into a rather bad person. He seemed to be on the tamer side for now, at least.
Right now, Grayson sat on his tattered bed, appearing unkempt for what looked like months, even though it had maybe only been a few weeks now. It wasn't surprising. In the Empire, they hadn't exactly treated their prisoners with exact decency from the beginning. Makes sense, for people like them. Especially under the current Emperor's rule. Grayson sighed ever so slightly, staring down at the shackles that had formerly hung loosely around his wrists, now on the cold, hard ground (*BUSTS DOWN THE DOOR* WOOAAAOOOOHHHH OOOOOOOHHH trouble trouble trouble). Or, now that I think about it, they might just be really lazy. Either way, the Empire isn't very nice.
I scuffed my boots across the stone floor, cracked and crumbling. My actions were visibly tired and bored, as I calmly waited for the guards to come back down. It seemed like it was around that time already. Luke was still sleeping, or appeared to be, so there wasn't much I could really do in the meantime. This had been one of my more prominent downfalls. Just being bored. There isn't much you can do while imprisoned. Adventuring is way more fun. Just being in a familiar place was way more fun, but at this point, this entire cell was familiar to him.
Suddenly, snapping Grayson out of his wandering thoughts, loud footsteps echoed down from the stairs, and into the hallway. Loud, angry footsteps. Grayson instinctively tensed, wondering if these were the guards that usually took him for interrogation. He stared at the hallway entrance, anticipating for the door to swing open. It did, and slammed against the wall harshly. Yep, it was those guards. They didn't look too happy when they opened the door to his cell. One of the guards marched over to him, and Grayson scrambled back a little. He didn't waste time, though, and grabbed him by the collar of his slightly dark green shirt. He hauled Grayson up onto his feet with shocking strength, and held him up so his toes hardly touched the ground. "Gh-.. w-what is this about?" Grayson managed to choke out the query.
"The Emperor would like to see you." Was the response the guard granted Grayson, his voice cold. The guard put him back down to his feet, but grabbed his arm in a tight grip, and pulled him along out of the cell, in which the other guards followed. Grayson almost tripped a few times, and he struggled not to stumble even more. As the guards dragged him along, he had to wonder. He knew that he hadn't done anything wrong, so why were they doing this?
Very soon, they had made it to the the throne room, where The Emperor appeared to be pacing back and forth impatiently. The guards didn't waste time shoving Grayson to the floor. The Emperor glanced over to see who had entered the room, and looked less than pleased. "Took you long enough." He snapped at the guards. "Get out." He ordered them, and they hurried away. The Emperor suddenly whipped around to look at Grayson, his teeth bared. "What did you do with it? Where did you put it?" His words were laced with venom, and he looked as if he could tear Grayson apart at any moment.
