chapter 17- heat

finally we reached the desert. , king was exhausted. I quickly set up the tent for him so he could rest.

"don't you need sleep?" he asked me

"I'm fine" I smiled.

once he was asleep I found my jacket, which I had taken off earlier when we began to feel the heat, and wrapped it around my hand. which was coated with a thick layer of dry blood and possibly still bleeding.

I found some water which I had got from melting snow into a pot before we left. I used it to wash my hand.

the cut was deep. and already starting to show signs of infection. I started to feel dizzy, but I just took it that it was from the sight of blood.

and the girl pinned to the tree. I shuddered.

obviously the cut would need stitches but I would have to go without. I ripped a sock into one strip and wrapped it round like a bandage. wether it would actually help I had no idea.

when I was sure we weren't going to be attacked I went to sleep.

I woke up with a banging headache. my whole body was shaking and my cheeks were burning.

my forehead was soaked.

king smiled at me.

"I put some water on your head to cool you down " he smiled.

"thank you " I said my voice barely I whisper.

" I cleaned your hand too, it was all green."

I pulled it up to have a look. the skin was black but starting to scab over. clearly king's cleaning had worked better than my sock.

fear gripped me. I was Ill. what would happen if I got worse? what would king do? what if a tribute found us?

" a parachute came , I couldn't get it open though" said king

he passed it to me. surprisingly it was adressed to me. I twisted the can open with my teeth.

"to Bree

this medicine will help you. but you will be passed out for 24 hours. you will wake up healthy. if you choose to take it King will have to fend himself for a day, but if you don't , your survival isn't gaurenteed
