For the first time in his life, Romeo Montague feels truly himself. Without a name, without a family, without any allegiance but to her, he is home. No name to call himself by other than Romeo, he has taken his first step in his rightful destiny. At her side, nothing else matters and he knows it.
Slowly raising the veil, he can't help but want her more. The way her eyes look up at him, the way she smiles slightly as the veil graces her back, the more he knows she is for him as much as he is for her.
"You may kiss your wife, Romeo," breathes the friar, his voice eager and wholesome to his honorary son's ear. Romeo nods in understanding but he wishes to take his time. He wishes to sense every bit of her in this precious moment that will only come once. He wants to elongate every action, every scent, every precious second that passes between the two of them. For this moment, this moment only, will commemorate their love forever under their families and under the Gods.Juliet takes her first steps closer to her husband. She can sense his heat as their bodies touch and she raises his arms up with hers. Still hand in hand, they feel the spark fly between them.
"I love thee more than all the stars," Juliet smiles.
"I fell in love because of all the million of little things thou dost, yet you never notice. Angels are truly perfect, Juliet," replies Romeo, kissing the top of her hands. Juliet blushes and tuns away, a little embarrassed.Romeo grasps her chin in his right hand and tilts her face towards his own. He leans in and then all at once she is his. Their lips embrace and seal their union under the friar's eyes. This time, their kiss is different. It means more than just a kiss in the darkness. This kiss means they can be together forever, never having to hide who they love and never fearing the wrath of their families. The Gods protect their soul now, their hearts and bodies as one.
"Real love never fails," breathes Lawrence, wiping away yet another tear for the two before him. "Never have I seen something more touching than this, something more meant to be than the sun and moon."
