Suddenly the church bell goes off, ringing through out the city of Verona.  From the highest tower of the cathedral, the alarm has been sounded.  There has been yet another brawl in the city between the House of Montague and House of Capulet.

"Juliet!  We must take flight!" calls Nurse, rushing up and pulling Juliet from the embrace of her husband.
"Romeo hence!  We must away!" calls Mercutio, doing the same to Romeo.

At once, the lovers are ripped from each other's heat.  Friar Lawrence can only watch in distress as what was previously beautiful is now torn almost to pieces.  Romeo cries out for his love and Juliet's eyes begin to water.  "Romeo!" she calls to him, desperately outstretching her arms.  He fights against Mercutio's hold on him but Benvolio comes at his friend's aid to restrain his cousin.  "We cannot stay," the other Montague barks, forcing Romeo out the back door of the chapel.

He fights his friends all the way, grasping onto anything he can to perhaps linger in Juliet's gaze.  Nurse has gotten her out of Romeo's grasp and moving her towards another secret chamber the friar had held secret meetings with her in.  The friar himself cleans the signs of a union from the small room incase he were to have unexpected visitors.  He drains the holy cup and places it back in its sacred box.  In a swift motion, he tears down the flowers decorating the holy book before him.  What had been beautiful and pure a moment before, is now ruined with the hate between man.
