Annette freaked.
'What did you do?' Annette shrieked, furiously pointing at Arthur, who flinched at her high-pitched tone.
'I did nothing to you, promise!' He swore, while he was trying to suppress a laugh.
'Don't lie to me! You are the one that brought us here!' The high-pitched tone came again, but she paused realising something. 'Hold on a moment, how exactly did you bring us here?'
Arthur sighed and nonchalant lifted up his hand, showing her the ring on his finger. 'This is a magic ring. I got it from an old friend. It has the ability to transport me anywhere I want to be, but unfortunately it takes a lot of magic to transport me around, so usually I can only transport a few times before it becomes useless. And right now, its magic levels are depleted.'
'Oh how great! And how are we supposed to get home again?' Annette yelled frantically as she turned around, scanning her surroundings, expecting to see an open portal somewhere like you see in the movies but she sae none. She swung back to Arthur with a hopeless look in her eyes.
'How are we going to get home?'
'I can't tell you anything at this moment. You'll just have to trust me, because everything else will fall into place. Right now we have to focus on the matter at hand.'
'What matter at hand exactly? You just transported us to a totally different place, with a magic ring and I've become an elf!'
'Annette please, calm down. I'm sure Arthur has a logical explanation for all of this.'
Annette however, was not listening to Harry, who was himself feeling quite a bit overwhelmed. Annette was shaking almost. She felt helpless and stunned. She was still in shock as her mind tried to process why Harry didn't change or how something like this was even possible.
Everything became too much for her and she suddenly burst into tears. 'No, this can't be!' She said through sniffs, 'I don't understand this.' She wiped off her tears, but a new wave of anxiety washed over her and she sobbed again. Harry patted her on the back glaring at Arthur. He knew from the start that there was something fishy about that boy and now they were in this mess.
'Arthur, what have you done? Can't you change me back and take us back home?' She asked in a frail voice and looked up to him with pleading eyes.
'I'm sorry Annette. I can't change you back,' he said with his eyes downcast, 'and you did tell me that you would do anything to get away from that orphanage.' He wished he could tell her the truth and why he brought them here. He knew however that they would figure it out in the next few days.'
'When I said that, I didn't mean that you should take me away from my world into some weird magical realm!' She cried looking around once more and then noticing that something was different about Harry too.
She tried to focus on what it was through her blurry vision until she could point it out.
'Harry, you've changed as well. You're not an elf, but your eyes have changed.' Annette's eyes widened at the sight of his eye colour. They were no longer brown, but a pale aqua blue. She felt relieved that he had changed, even though it wasn't as severe as her change, but it helped her to calm herself.
'What do you mean?' Harry asked quickly as he touched his face, 'tell me already! What has changed?'
'Your eyes are aqua blue,' Arthur quickly told him. Harry blinked his eyes a few times and then looked suspiciously towards the boy who brought them to the new place. 'Arthur, do we need to expect any sudden change from you as well?'
