" Shiro ? Do you copy ? "

A low voice crackled from the earpiece, sounding fairly serious despite the excited chattering in the background.

" ... Do we have to speak in that manner ? Wouldn't speaking normally be fine ? "

There was a gasp of surprise from the other end followed by exaggerated sobbing noises, before a clattering noise told me the receiver had been dropped.

" You've broken his heart Shiro, Sugino has always wanted to do things like this after all, though I do agree it's somewhat childish. " The person, a girl this time though I couldn't tell who it was exactly since I wasn't familiar enough with the class to tell apart everyone by their voices, picked up the received and remarked coldly, arousing another gasp, of indignance this time, while the two of us laughed.

" Everything's alright on your end, I'd assume ? "

" Everything seems alright here, for the time being. Would you like to speak to Hiroto ? He's just around the corner so I can go get him if need be. "

" No, no, it's alright. We just decided to do some preliminary checks before we began the operation. "

" Alright then, before you go, could you to hand the received over to Sugino for a moment ? "

" Sure thing. "

" Copy that, Sugino. I will now continue being on standby until further instructions are given, over. "

I spoke the moment I heard a person pick up the receiver on that end, and for a moment, I worried whether the correct person had picked it up, but the familiar gasp told me it likely had, and I hung up the instant I was finished since the constant glances from those who passed me by were causing me to feel terribly self-conscious, and I was sure that if I were to look at my reflection in a mirror now, my face would certainly be flushed a deep pink with embarrassment.

Glossy hair as dark as night cascaded down my back in ripples, and despite the fact it was no more than a wig, the fineness of each strand of hair, which was so delicate that even real hair would be ( potentially ) brought to shame when compared against this,  did make one marvel just how they had been able to make something so fine and so beautiful.

Bitch-sensei had been the one in charge of disguises, in my case, instead of having Sugaya do it instead since the role I played didn't require extensive changes in appearance, and ' a little bit of make-up would do the trick '. Of course, since it was bitch-sensei, she had gone more than a little overboard.

For a first, while the wig she had chosen was indeed beautiful, the straps on the heels she had insisted I wore ( to make up for the height difference between Hiroto and myself ) were rubbing hard against the skin on my feet, which had never wore heels my whole life, and also made walking, even just standing, difficult. And since we weren't allowed to leave the ' area ' we were assigned to, and with the nearest chair being meters away, even though I did want to sit down and rest my feet desperately, there wasn't any opportunity for me to do so.

Well ... there was always the choice of sitting on the pavement, but that'd risk the hitching up of this ridiculously short skirt as well as the possibility of tripping over my own feet when I decided to stand again, and rather than looking like a fool, I'd rather remain standing even if it killed my feet.

And don't even get me started on the ridiculous number of chest pads Bitch-sensei had stuffed after complaining that " no amount of make-up could do anything about that lack of chest ".

Thinking about it, despite the fact that the Chairman had talked of ' speaking to me ' once I returned to the house, he had been called out for business by the time I returned and hadn't been back since, so I had been safe the rest of the day.
