As soon as we got to her room Olivia ran to her closet and threw opens he doors. She walked in and went out of sight. She came back out a few seconds later with a pile of dresses almost taller than her and dumped them on her bed. I sighed and walked over to examine the pile.
"How does one person need this many dresses?" I turn around only to see she's disappeared again. This time she returned with several pairs of shoes.
"Do you really expect me to wear a dress out more than three times?" I laugh and shake my head. Olivia and I are complete polar opposites. "Oh I almost forgot accessories. Wait here."
"Where do you expect me to go."
"I don't know just, don't move. At all."
I roll my eyes as she runs around her room grabbing anything the glistened in the light. I love being at her house sometimes I wish I could just stay. Don't get me wrong I love my family it's just Olivia's place feels more like a home. When I'm there it's like I have a sister again. My dad left when I was little and my older brother lives with my dad on the other side of the country and my other sister, Layla, and I live with my mum. I miss him a lot, I guess that I didn't know him very well because I was young but still.
"Hello, earth to T." I was pulled out of my thoughts by having a scarf thrown at my head.
"Hmmm, funny." I throw the scarf back at her "Aren't I supposed to be helping you pick an outfit?"
"Yes you are. Oh and you'll need a dress too."
"I'll need a what now?"
"Well the end of year dance is in a few weeks and you'll need a dress too, so you could borrow one of mine or we can go shopping to get you one."
Before I could protest I get pulled off of the bed and shoved in front of a mirror.
"I wasn't planning on going." Olivia gave me her 'mum' look
"You are going."
"Don't I need a date as well?"
"So..."
"Yeah how am I supposed to get one."
"Well there is someone I could set you up with."Olivia held up a blue feathery dress that made me look far too pale, but I wasn't paying attention to the dress.
"There is who?"
She doesn't answer me and holds up another dress this one a silver puffy dress that would look great on Olivia, anything would, but since I'm quite a few inches taller it barely covers my thighs.
"Maybe not this one."
"I swear if you don't tell me who."
"Elliot." She's smirking as she says it, a smirk that kinda reminds me of Elliot
"Elliot. Really that's who you come up with."
"Hey what's wrong with him."
"Nothing it's just he's Elliot. So just no."
"What were you to doing earlier anyway?"
"He was helping me with the whole air thing." I pause looking at her carefully
"What?"
"How were you able to learn to control your powers?"
"You make it sound so weird by saying powers. But umm my dad helped me." She mumbled as she turned away to pick up another dress. I sigh and go and sit on her bed again.
"You know you can mention your dad around me, right."
"I know I just feel bad about it and I just don't want to say something that will make you upset."
This was people usual reaction once they found out they always avoided talking about dads or brothers as if I would burst out crying if they did. Most people don't even try to hide the fact they're trying to not mention them. Everyone acts like I'm a ticking time bomb around that subject and any moment I could just explode. It sounds stupid but so many people even friends act weirdly. I can see that Olivia looks guilty and doesn't really know what to say.
"Come on we haven't got all night we both need a dress." Her eyes light up when I say this, she always gets excited when I let her style my outfit, hair and makeup. " Also I thought you liked Elliot."
"I mean he's funny and it's fun to flirt with him but I doubt he would like me, and even so I don't like him."
It's kinda funny seeing Olivia get defensive about this, especially since she's such a bad liar."So how many dates have you got so far ."
"None but I have had 4 offers."
"Was Elliot one of them?"
Olivia started to blush and tried to cover it by pretending to sort out her hair. "That doesn't matter to you and you said it your self we need to find you a dress."
After three hours and hundreds of dresses ( ok that may be an exaggeration but still it was a lot of dresses) later and we had the perfect outfits picked out. Olivia was wearing a black maxi dress with a slit up the side and beads along the straps, for me she picked out a lilac dress that came to just above my knees, that apparently goes very well with my hair. I see it as a dull brown colour but Olivia always insists it's the colour or caramel.
We're both wearing matching necklaces which are two tiny hearts joined together etched engraved with a pattern, one with a leaf falling and the other with lines representing wind. An inside joke reminding us of our powers.
When I got home I basically collapsed onto our sofa ready to drift off to sleep in peace and quiet.
"TALLY!" Well that didn't last long. I roll over and see a small face staring back at me.
"Aren't you supposed to be in bed?"
"I cwouldnt sweep." Layla's voice comes out muffled as she sticks her thumb in her mouth.
"Come on then." I scoop her up and carry her upstairs singing a lullaby and by the time I reach her room she's snoring softly.
I close her door quietly and tiptoe back to my room and finally I can sleep.

Sorry it's a bit of a boring chapter but it's just kinda giving an idea of character personalities, after a few chapters of setting the scene it should start getting interesting.
