Once I started to drive my rusty red car, I thought about all the times we had together. Nate and I of course.
"Charlotte!" Christina shouted.
I ignored her and kept driving. My eyes were glued to the yellow stripes on the road.
"Charlotte watch out!" I swerved the car so quickly. a huge white van almost hit us all. Jade, Margaret, christina and I."I am so sorry! It's all my fault. I was preoccupied." I grabbed Jade's hand and I start to shake.
"It's okay." Jade replies. Jade has always been the kind and lovable one. However, she's also extremely gullible.
"I bet she was thinking about Nate." Christina on the other hand, is the dare devil. She's sassy and more mysterious."What about Nate?" Margret asks politely. Margret's the quiet and put together one. She loves vintage clothes and has a passion for art.
"She hooked up with Nate last night!" Christina told them joyfully.
"It meant nothing." I answered.
"It meant something." Christina always makes sure she's correct."It did not!"
"Did too!"
"Girls, stop fighting please. You sound like two year olds if I do say so myself," said Margret.
"They would be cute babies." Jade giggled in the front seat next to me.♡♡♡
Once we got to Jade's house, I open up my APPLE laptop from my black Jan-sport backpack. The bright light from the screen shined onto my perfectly smooth face. Not to brag, but I moisturize every night.
"Tina, look at Jade's room! She re-did it! It's really cute."
"Yeah Margret, it's really cute; and very pink." Christina makes a cringed face as if she doesn't like Jade's room."Hey guys, look at this." I moved my hand to tell my best friends to come near me.
"What is it?" Christina shouts from upstairs.
"It's Nate's twitter," I say. The four of us look onto the screen as I point with my red tip.
"Oh my gosh." Everyone pauses as Jade looks up at me.
"He likes you!" Jade yells.
"No he does not." I argue.
"Look!" Margret points to my laptop screen which says:'Had a great time tonight. Thank you for everyone who came, especially Charlotte.' Nate added the wink emoji after his tweet. My hand is covering my mouth as my friends all look down at me. I look over at Christina and her big bug eyes are staring right into my sole.
"Wow, he likes you." She pokes my belly.
"Stop teasin. He does not."
"He does too." Says Jade.Nate got 20 retweets and fifty five favorites. He's so popular. I'm just average, you know? I'm not anything special, but I'm definitely not a geek. Or am I?
♡♡♡
I called my mom to come pick me up since Christina needs to borrow my car. She doesn't have a ride home. Her parents aren't really the type to take her places or go on vacations or, do anything really. She's the only child but wishes she had someone else to share her feelings with. Christina reminds me of Chandler from my favorite show, FRIENDS. She uses her funny personality to hide her feelings. Hopefully one day she'll open up to all of us; or at least me.
I walk over to the black, shiny car as I say goodbye to my friends. "Bye girls!" I say. I hop down the gray tiles next to the shrubs in my strap up sandals I bought from Macy's. My mother waved high to me with the hand that had the shiny ring on it. My mom, Kathleen is a very independent person. However, she kind of acts like she's my age.
"So how was the party? Did you hook up with anyone?"
"Mom!" I yell. "You're so weird."
"I'm not weird, i'm just different." She clicks the button to turn on the radio with her Long white nails. All of a sudden, she screams, "Oh!"
"What?"
"Was it Nate? It was Nate! I knew it."
"Mom, chill. I didn't kiss Nate."
"George? Oh, it was definitely George."
"Mom, I didn't make out with anyone at the party."
"Oh, what a bummer. Maybe next party hun." She pats me on the back and sadly looks down."Mom! Watch out!" She swerves around on the road and nearly hits our neighbors's mailbox. We're both breathing heavily now. 'What just happened' I thought to myself. We sat there for a few minutes as Kathleen pulls over into our driveway.
"I am weird aren't I?" She asks with a grin on her pale, freckled face.
"Oh mother, you are." We smile at one another. I look at her and shake my head as I realize something. She's just like me. I swerved my rusty car going to Jade's house and she just did the same thing now.Omg, I'm my mom.
