I was sitting in my family room, drinking my iced coffee from Starbucks. It was twelve o'clock and I heard my phone ringing. "Hey hun; you're phone is ringing. It's over here." My mom said to me as I walked over to the kitchen. I picked up my iPhone to answer the call. It said unknown number.
"Hello? Who is this?"
"It's me."
"Me who?"
"Nate." He laughed.
"Oh, sorry Nate. Um, I didn't have your number so i didn't know it was you."
"That's okay Charlotte. I just called you to see if you'd like to go grab some coffee today."
"Coffee?"
"Yes, coffee," he giggled again.
"Well, the problem is, I already had coffee this morning."
"You can have it twice! I'll be at your house in five!"
"Wait, how did you even get my number in the first place?"
"I asked my friend."
"Well who's that?"
"Um," there was a big pause that lasted five seconds. "Christina. Maybe, um, I don't know."'Christina set us up! I knew it.'I thought. "I'll see you in five I guess."
"Well four now because I'm almost at your house."
"Bye."
"Bye." I hung up the phone and sprinted upstairs like a track star. The thumping of my loud feet made my mom question why I'm hurrying.
"Hun! What are you doing up there?" She asked.
"Mom, I'll tell you later!" I answered. There was tiny sweat dripping down my face which made it really hard for me to do my makeup. After applying blush, mascara and all the rest, I quickly ran back downstairs to grab my phone and clutch. I look out the window and in the corner of my eye, I see my MOTHER talking to Nate. Are you shitting me right now?! I ran out of my house and slammed the brown door."Hey you." I friendly-like punched Nate on his shoulder.
"Hey Charlotte."
He then grabbed me to give me a big hug but I stopped it when I asked, "So we must be going. Bye mom," and while Nate wasn't looking, I moved my hand to tell my mom to shoo.♡♡♡
During the car ride, it was silent and just plain old awkward. I was thinking about how Christina gave Nate my phone number to ask me out. Maybe it was all her idea, or it could've been his. It hit me. Christina was the third person awake at Nate's party besides Nate and I. When we were both drunk, she could've set us up. But Christina's my best friend, she wouldn't do that. Or would she?
"So Charlotte," he started to speak.
"Yeah?"
"You're mom was telling me how much we would make a perfect couple."
"Oh really?"
"Really."
"I believe you." I look out the window of his Jeep. I'm not surprised my mom would go outside and talk to Nate. She always loves embarrassing me.
"We're here!" Nate gets out of the car, runs around the truck, and tries to open my car door but I just do it myself.♡♡♡
While we're eating our muffins and sipping our hot coffee, I started to think about what it would be like if I dated Nate. The only thing I find attractive is his blue eyes and his blonde floppy hair. He's even six foot which is really attractive. No wonder why he has a lot of friends.
"I had a question for you."
"What is it?" I ask nervously. I think I'm starting to like Nate. I know I do.
"Would you like to come to my brother's wedding with me? I have a plus one and I don't really know who else to ask. Plus, I kind of like you."
"Yes! Yes! I'll go with you." I grabbed his neck and kissed him. He held me so close and so tight. I never realized how much I liked Nate. I really, really do.
